Okay, bide my stupidity for a moment. You're saying that I could rock an underslung golfball launcher, if it's black powder fired? Or, for more fun, an underslung black powder scattergun? Practicality be damned, I want my rifle to become famous.

As I read it, yes, as long as its a black powder muzzle loader. It might get jinky if you attach it to a modern firearm. Call atf to be sure.

Doesn't that sound fun?! A black powder bloop gun.

Didn't they just switch to regional jurisdictions for that sort of thing, rather than having one giant pile for everyone to pull from? If so, then I would imagine the wait time varies from region to region, depending on how much of a lazy-ass your agent is, or how much "business" they are getting.

If that's different, then I'm talking out my ass.

This. The last I hear it was about 6 months now. Apparently they recently readjusted the way the forms are processed, so regions with heavy NFA firearm ownership have a longer wait than others. Typical...

Why do you need a lawyer for file a form 1? You need an engraver, a yard stick and about 2-3 hrs of running around.

Yeah, looks like things are taking a bit longer.

Pretty good thread over on Snipershide (that started a couple of years ago but it is updated pretty frequently) that gives you an idea of where things stand:

Rumor has it the CLEO around here refuses to sign off, so I'd need to make a trust, ergo my brother in law the lawyer. I'm not 100% on that, and I've got to look into it further, but I think for several reasons a trust would be better.

I'd fill out the paper work and go to.the sheriff. Atf is now working off a shall issue directive.

All most everyone here has told me the same thing, its not been at all true.

With a little research and common sense you can have your own trust ready to go in one evening. Doesn't require a lawyer at all if you find a good reference.

We'll see, my buddy has dinner with the current sheriff every now and then. The old sheriff who wouldn't sign off under any circumstances? He got sentenced to house arrest for a year after pleading guilty to charges that could/should have sent him away for 10 years :gonk: . Cuyahoga County: it's like Cook County, but less people and somewhat less wind.

In any event, thinking in terms of long term planning, a trust might be the way to go for me.

Yea, but with such a risky and potentially dangerous thing as this - I'll leave it to the pros.

Don't know. I haven't called and it hasn't come back. I suspect it's pending, they usually kick them back within 3 months.

LOL. You'd better hurry!

Hopefully in a few months I'll be sending one in for a suppressor. Thanks for the info.

Check was cashed on the 21st.

Now we wait. I'll give them a call in a month or so to check status and find out who my examiner is.

Still waiting on mine from August. Was for a 22 sparrow ss suppressor. I'm tempted to start shopping around for more but I really want to get this back first.
