Ala-F*ckin-Bama?

I'm completely down for a Alabama chapter, and doing some regular bug out and camp out style stuff. Also Styx river sounds amazing right now. Burning up down here

We're officially making the final move on Monday, and have a house west of Birmingham.

First there are several things that need to be done to form a chapter.

People interested in this need to meet. SOME WHERE CENTRAL TO EVERYONE'S LOCATION

Then we need to discuss a plan. as we need th follwoing things:
At least 3 members
2 charity events a year
Regular meetings for officers/member and the public
Paprework
and discuss DUES.

Then we would need to discuss the first charity event and fill out the paperwork.

I for one am intersted in this especialy since after the storms there is still plenty of work to be done.

IF people are interested then we need to discuss where we can all meet that is centrally located to us. Birmingham seems like a good place from what I am seeing. I perfer Huntsville, since thats where I live, but I can be accomidating. I think that if we want a AL-ZS Chapter then we need to meet and see if we as a group can work togehter.

If people want to meet, then I suggest the weekend of August 6-7 and meet someplace. If I need to make a seperate therad for this, then let me know. Sound off if this is a solid plan.

I couldn't make Huntsville. Bham would be possible. I'm sure there are people south of t-town who are going to chime in though.
Ill be in Colorado aug 5-14

I know at least one guy personally on the board who is interested in meeting, so theres 2/3 of a chapter.

It's not that we don't have people interested. Its that most of us are spread out over N. AL and that makes it pretty hard to gather and do things. But, at the same time, this needs to be addressed in the first meet and greet as per ZS Chapter rules, a hometown has to be set for a chapeter to start as they do not do state chapters anymore. They may let a N. AL chapter slide by, but, it is definetly something that needs to be discussed. The only way for a chapter to survive is to get things right at the beginning and keep it up so that a strong chapter can survive and grow.

Any way, people chime in and lets figure this out. If a new thread needs to be started, let me know and I will start onw so we can get things off the ground.

If we're mostly in Birmingham and Huntsville... Cullman perhaps?

Yeah, seems like you "hill people" need to form your own chapter, while us "beach bums" do the same. :D

Cullman works for me. But where in Coleman? I am not that familiar with the area to really pick a place. But I am open to suggestions.

I figure that if we can meet and discuss things on August 6 or 7th, that gets people pleanty of time to plan for it and make arrangements if necessary so we can discuss things. Like I stated in an earlier post, suggestions are welcome.

I will be moving back to Tuscaloosa August 15th or so, roughly a week before classes start. A weekend after that would work for me, as I'll only have classes mon-fri.

I used to live in Cullman, and will say that no place would work :D

Anyways, I am in the "beach bum" group, so where should we meet up? Gulf state park in Gulf shores/Orange Beach (would be nice to help pick up after the fire), or somewhere in Mobile?

I don' mind meeting later, but the weekend that I picked was the first available weeked that I had to do something. I usually work a lot or am working on getting my house fixed. The next time that I am free would be sometime in September at the earliest.

Tuscaloosa, AL checking in I'm up for driving if needed but timing is going to be critical. I've got an internship going thru the spring and as we all know its hard to ask off anytime when we intern somewhere. Cullman is a little far for me to drive even once a month. but I'm open a 1-1 1/2 hour drive. how about Natural Bridge or Birmingham?

Im down in Baldwin County, (moved from Tuscaloosa about two years ago), I would be very interested in starting up/joining a chapter for AL. I have at least three other people that would be interested. Two would be in Tuscaloosa and two of us are in Baldwin County. Let me know further details, a meet-up would deffinately be a good start...Roll Tide
