I bought my SOG powerpliar here like, forever ago. It took like a month to ship to me, so I was a little miffed. Inside the box the SOG package was surrounded by seriously like 20 cheesy dollar knives like the kind you see in the bug jugs at the checkout? I was pretty ok with the weight after that. I had a knife in every bag, bin and drawer for a long time actually.

If you're in Costa Mesa, CA. check out Plaza Cutlery. They don't have all the space or inventory of SMKW, but they do more custom stuff than I've seen elsewhere, with the possible exception of Nordic Knives in Solvang. Both those shops carry pretty large numbers of Randalls, and lots of others.

I will make the trip to SMKW one of these days. Been past it a couple times, haven't been able to stop.

Here is most of my collection, minus my stag handle bowie... cant find it (not the one mentioned later, a custom job) :gonk:

Anyway, the new ones that came from SMKW are the two "tactical" looking pair, on the left. The S&W folder on the left, the inwardly curved "neck knife", leatherman freestyle (X2), and (not shown) a Colt stag handled bowie I got for my pops... Ahh, here it is-

Anyway, love my new smkw knives, and will go back when I can!

We recently visited SMKW for the first time in years and I was happy to see that they now carry ESEE, TOPs and some other good stuff. I got out of there for only a couple hundred dollars, which I thought was pretty good.

We go to the Smokies a lot, but we rarely venture into SevierGatlinForge. The North Carolina side is much more peaceful and once you get off the main road you get to really experience the park. The only thing to remember is if it's not raining, it will be in ten minutes. If you don't know how to start a fire in the rain with wet everything, you learn pretty quickly there.

I went to Alaska on my honeymoon and regret not picking up a nice bowie knife I saw up there. I just thought it would be a hassle taking it back to the cruise ship then taking it through Customs from Canada to the US.

Holy crap, Batman! That's a lot of knives. That's one of those places you walk into with a budget in mind... then you find yourself tripling what you're willing to spend in the first five minutes. I suppose it's good for my bank account that I'm nowhere near that place.

Oh, and congrats on your first Mora. Mora knives really changed how I look at bush craft knives. I highly suggest dragging into the bush and trying out some practical camp chores and whittling.

Damn! Me too (same exact situation, really)... But then we went back a few years later, and I grabbed it!

Pretty cool! The bowie I saw was pretty close to that, I think it was in Ketchikan in one of those "gold miner" stores. I'm hoping to go back, too. So much fun.

I've never seen such a big knife store! Holy crap. Knives are such a low margin product for B&M in most cases too. Now, why don't they carry Mission?

Love the place. I have been doing business with them for years. I am worse than a kid in a candy store there, and my wife manages to stay occupied too.

Oh yes...:) My wife and I stopped on our way back from NC. Luckily I had some heavy duty shorts on. I managed to get out with only an axe, some small knives and a copy of Horace Kephart. They also sell the Foxfire books as well. Awesome museum, brought tears to my eyes and spots to the shorts...:D I didn't know about the Army/Navy store, we might still be there with that one...:)
