There's an unspoken belief among the users of this forum.
"That which was once dead should remain dead and should it once again walk the earth, duty decrees that it must be sent back from whence it came. Preferably in the most bad-ass way possible. "

I would assume this applies to dinosaurs.

See, I figured you guys, being a prep forum n' all, would be pretty bombproof. So I decided that if ZS went down unexpectedly and without warning, it must be time to hit the ol' panic button. I got the bug-in procedure in motion, and it wasn't long before the first zed came knocking! (y'know they never remembered how to knock in the movies but ya' gotta be ready for anything right?) He must've been a Verizon salesman before he turned because he had a stupid red outfit on and was blathering unintelligibly about some "Fios" thing. Anyhoo, I've been takin' care of business since, and thanks to everyone for all the great advice on BIL hardening, water storage, etc.

Huh. There's like 20 cops outside. Gonna see what's goin' on. BRB.

Nice to see ya' again ZS. Missed you. And seriously, thanks for all your hard work you guys.

Wow, that's WAY more hardcore than me!

I realized that I was hitting the page refresh button way too much and that I might as well get some use out of the motion, so a little bandage tape wrapped around the old wireless mouse and my own personal *ahem 'joystick', and I was good to go.

I did get a blood blister because the board was down for so long, and I ran out of Kleenex three days ago, but at least I didn't whack some poor salesman like you!

Thanks very much for the hard work guys, I can imagine how pissed and frustrated you were. Glad to have everyone back, felt like I had taken a vacation from family for too long and was homesick. Ok, enough mushy stuff, just glad to be up and running again!!

In regards to the Zombie Attack on the ZS website
A BIG THANK YOU to Kyle, Jnathan, whisk.e.rebellion & all others involved to get the ZS site back up and running!

I am sure the technical battle was a HUGE frustration! Let's just face it, volunteering can seem like such a time consuming and thankless job!

I know ALL of you (and many others), put a lot of time and effort to setup, maintain and improve the ZS community for us.

I just wanted to say...............................

Add my voice to the chorus of tank-yous for the work you guys did over the weekend!

I spend a lot of my online time lurking and absorbing the knowledge base here, and I owe a great debt of gratitude to Cameron, Jeff, and Kyle (plus anybody else who helped them), and all the rest of the volunteers that keep everything going.

Real Men of Genius

Tonight we salute you, Mr ZS Sysadmins

Mr. Zombie Squad Admin guys!

Your tireless work over a holiday weekend when you could've been spending time with loved ones was epic.

Your wives hate you now!

Thanks to your tireless efforts, I was spared another day of boring comment boards, Facebook drudgery, and finally having to deal with real people in meat-space.

I don't have a life!

Even though part of the forums were lost, the glory and comfort of my online forum will continue to piss off my friends and family and force them to try to get me in psych treatment.

Not the Straitjacket Again!

Let us raise a frosty glass in your honor, you Potentates of online obsession, and celebrate your genius

Mr Zombie Squad Sysadmin Guys!

Brought to you by DarkAxel of the Zombie Squad Forums,

Thank you all for all of the hard work--on an holiday weekend, no less. It's super to have the ZS back.

In addition, your post is a perfect example of how organizations should respond when there has been a problem or service interruption. Many companies could learn a thing or two from you (I'm looking at you, Apple, BP, Bank of America).

Well done!

I didn't have to check the ZS forums twice daily. Really, I could have stopped any time I wanted to. If the forums had gone down for good, I <heh-heh> would have been just fine with that. I, ah, have a life, don't I? <heh-heh> Of course I do! It's not like I need my daily fix of zombie/prep/current events/movies/literature/TV. If I suddenly didn't have any of that, why, I could get by just fine by - ah, that is, I would certainly - <heh-heh> ....? Hmm, surely life did exist before ZS, didn't it? Didn't it?

OH FINE! I WAS GOING THROUGH SERIOUS WITHDRAW, OK? ARE YOU SATISFIED ZS? HAVE FUN WITH OUR LITTLE "SOCIAL EXPERIMENT", DID WE? HERE'S YOUR POUND OF FLESH, YOU VULTURES! I WAS GOING CRAZY WAITING FOR THE FORUMS TO GET BACK UP. I DIDN'T SLEEP! I DIDN'T EAT! I NEARLY GOT FIRED FROM MY JOB! I WAS IN THE ER 3 DAYS IN A ROW FOR HEART PALPITATIONS!

Well, I hope you're satisfied, because your little exercise backfired, you know. If the SHTF, sure I've got my food. I've got my water, my back up power, my GHB, my BO plan. But I won't have my ZS! Which means there's really no point in prepping at all, is there? IS THERE? Because if this past week has taught me anything, it's that if the big one goes down, I'll just curl up into a fetal position, whimper for a day or two and then die.

Way to burst my bubble, ZS! Sheez.

Oh, and I suppose you expect gratitude for working tirelessly to bring the forums back on line? Fine. "Thanks" for showing me to be the quivering mass of jelly that I now know I am.

Indeed, severely lacking.

Thank you for all the hard work and that you went even as far as the holiday weekend to keep at trying to get everything resolved.

(If I were to quote 99% of all the entries before mine it would still take more than that to convey the heart-felt joy that swells my chest right now)

I'm in. Oh, and to you who brought ZS back - thank you. But thanks doesn't ease the thirst - see The Big Stick's post above.

Too bad about all that was lost; it's pretty ridiculous how much gets posted in just one day, let alone 2 weeks.
