What did you today for your BOV/how did you prepare your BOV

Postby Ike » Wed Jun 08, 2011 1:11 am

Clay bar is good if you still have a clear coat. Haha if not it won't do much. I would always wash my car with dawn dish soap to get everything off the paint and then wash with the clay bar. You'll be amazed at what comes off.

well here is what I like doing, and trust me you WILL see and feel the results.

1. wet the vehicle down
2. presoak the vehicle with a soap foam cannon
3. use a 2 bucket system to wash the vehicle
4. rinse
5. dry
6. claybar
7. rewash
8. dry
9. polish car
10. rewash & dry
11. use a sealant such as zaino or klasse (more layers you use the better the results will be, on my show car 300c that i got rid of, it had on average 25 layers of Zaino)
12. top with a good carnuba wax (such as P21S or DoDo Juice or PoorBoy's or Adams)

Sit back and enjoy and just wash the car weekly and wax once a month and thats about it. once a year redo the whole process!

I am actually huge into vehicle detailing and such. what did ya get? If only people realize how much money i have into car care in my garage, most people's eyes would pop out of their sockets...

Spent 2 hours this am hand washing the Jeep and it's cab cover as the sun came up. Found some chips in the paint in the driver's door sill and one just behind the driver's door and it made me grin - it's a Jeep, not a gorram parking lot princess. Later today I'll spend an hour or so making the inside look nice. Life is good.

My cleaning kit is some dash wipes, vent/dash brush, washing solution (orange... mmm...), window wipes, window cleaner, paper towels, Rain-X, and a garden hose with a cheap nozzle. Next week I'm adding tire cleaner (No Touch) and a lawn sprinkler that I can park Dusty over when I've been in the mud. It's not great, but it is better than a poke in the eye with a stick and it's an affordable solution.

I swear by Rain-X. It even makes it easier to wash off the bugs. Clean the glass, apply, then hose off and you're good until the next tank of gas, maybe more.

You might notice there's no car wax. With taking it into the dirt and mud I kinda don't see the point, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Must replace floor mats.

you should. it will make cleanup that much easier, also the wax will leave a small protective barrier for twigs to glide across.. it wont stop all scratches but it will help with it.

Not a problem. I hit a nice hole near the traintracks last night. So, I wanted to check my tires to see if it was okay. I usually dont check it often, but it never hurts.

I havent driven since I hit it. From when I hit it to my house (roughly 2 miles or so), I didnt feel anything out of the ordinary. I can usually tell if something is wrong by the way it drives. I'll keep an eye on it for the next couple days and see if I notice anything. I'll be driving longer distances the next two weekends, so the last thing I need is a flat tire.

Got 2 bungee cords to tether the rear seat when it's folded forward. This will prevent it from trying to lay down when I accelerate and then thumping forward again when it recovers.

The dealer wanted 3k to take the dash apart to get to the part,
I just took out the glove box and drilled two holes, it took me 20 minutes.

I found a cool write up on http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=402413 ,
http://www.jgcparts.com/JeepHeaterInstallation.html , and http://www.nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91570

I just have the Blend Doors taped up right now, I will replace the doors when I get some extra cash.
