Game of Thrones HBO; All Seasons with Spoilers

Unless you've been in the Phantom Zone, you've probably seen or heard about this series by George R.R. Martin. There will be an inevitable comparison to Tolkien's LOTR.

Good: Five books to date, two unfinished gives the series potential since not even the author knows for sure how it turns out in the end.

The Hook: First scene; Scouts from The Wall chasing a tribe of Wildlings (unconquered nomadics) find the tribe massacred. Worse, the bodies re-animate and wipe out all but one of the scouts.
More a wight than a zombie, these undead serve a higher power and are difficult, but not impossible to kill.

The NSFW Part: The production company is the same one that did the series Rome, which means there is plenty of T+A as well as projectile bleeding and squishy internal bits.

I am enjoying it so far. First episode at least follows the book very closely.

If you decide to read the books ahead of the show, just keep in mind that Stockholm Syndrom is real and you will experience it. Also, if you dont have time to read the books, just go find a nice dark alley and pay someone $20 to kick you in the junk. It will have the same emotional impact as these books.

That all said, great story, awesome world, very deep plot and plot twists that I really hope carry well into the visual world. So far so good, tho.

Great series of books that really keep you guessing. VERY dark story. You like happy endings you better pass.

After waiting this long, the next book better be finished and released when he says it will. I will need to re-read them so I can remember everything that happened; it's been a while and they're long books with lots of characters.

The preview vid looks great, I've got it saved on netflix for when the dvd's come out!

The 5th book isn't actually out yet, should be out in July or else Martin! but each book weighs in at about 1000 pages, so there is plenty to get you started.

If you like it so much, you should get HBO instead of stealing programming. HBO exists solely via subscription.

Also, since you're in Texas, and thus still inside the US, what you're talking about is illegal.

Tyrion Lannister

Best introductory scene ever.

FYI - I have HBO, and almost all of the other "extra" channels at my apartment.......... but seeing as that I travel about 50% of the year I have no compunctions about downloading stuff that I've already paid for and/or don't have set to record on my dvr.

Watched the first ep, was decently impressed. It was a lot darker/meaner than I expected. I have not read the books so I guess I have preconceived notions about what it would actually be about.

Plus, Lena Headey, hot. The blonde wig, I am not so sure about.

Love it. After seeing the first two episodes, I have extremely high hopes for this series, which probably means it will be canceled abruptly or jump the shark after season one.

Yep, after being home and watching it on my very own cable that I pay for, I'm officially hooked. I haven't read the books, but I can see some major problems coming down the pipe in this series. I see more attempts on the chillrens being bad for some important relationships.

I'm both e-reading ahead and watching the episodes. Tyrion really gets some choice scenes coming up.

I'm seriously starting to wonder if Kohl Drogo was meant to be a play on Carl Drega.

I agree with the previous assessment of the books. They are brutal. I'm excited about the movie series, but I've been waiting forever for the next book and I'm a bit spiteful for having to wait so damned long.

Martin's publisher announced that Dance with Dragons is coming out on July 12th.
Martin confirmed it on his web site.

I am rereading too.
The books are set up perfect for rereading.
Skim the chapters about your least favorite characters and dive right into your favorites.
