I think this depends on the people involved at the time. People with a prepping mindset are going to be more forward thinking than others in many aspects, and recognize the need for strangers to have to work together for the common good. Others, not so much of a prepping mindset, will see the sense and get on board pretty quickly. Some will take longer, needing to "see" the advantages before getting involved in making them happen. And then, you'll have the "toxic people", who will nay-say, belittle, and just generally complain about EVERYTHING the entire time, but be perfectly willing to grab "their share" of the results.
What kind of a mix you end up with at a moment's notice is anyone's guess, but being willing to take charge if no one else seems willing and able to would be just as important as being willing to step aside for someone who can do the job better than you can, and then be supportive of them. The movies show us all too often how everyone in a group wants to be the General, but I don't think that's a realistic view. But, just as badly, there's often a lack of people willing to be "good soldiers", who follow directions, and support the group and it's leader, impromptu as he or she may be. Remember, all the best generals ever, were once "good soldiers" themselves at one point.
