If something adventuress is an option, we could go to H&H outdoors. The basement is like Sunny Surplus was, (if you remember that), boxes and boxes of military surplus stacked on shelves that you just route through, they rarely have the something twice, it all depends on what they got in. It’s in downtown B’more W, Franklin and Eutaw.

That being said, making an excursion to that place is always an adventure.

July 10th works for me, I’ll be on the AT 26 June.

Ok, July 10th sounds good...there's been no other interest expressed so let's settle on a location. Somewhere off of the western part of 695 works well for me...I typically drive up 29 to I70 east. Any recommendations?

I'll pass on H&H outdoors...as interesting as it sounds I don't know my way around downtown Baltimore at all and don't care to wander around and risk getting lost.

Ah, our National Area Group (NAG?) has so much desire to get together. Don't worry, I understand this is pretty common with other chapters. With enough time, we'll find people in closer proximity and that'll make it easier than people traveling all over the region.

July 10th was suggested, but no location was ever set.

I asked for a suggestion for a meeting place off of the Baltimore beltway (instead of Baltimore City) on 29 June. When nobody replied I figured any interest that was initially expressed was lost.

I've been checking this thread at least every other day for the last week and a half and did not see any replies to my post until today :?

Ditto, we were bouncing ideas when you mentioned the 10th. Like you, I was waiting to see who would chime in with some options and dates.

So i guess the question still stands, when, where etc...

Ok, no problem. I think we're better off picking a time and place amongst whomever expresses interest early on and letting whomever else sign on from there.

Sent you a PM to see if you're still up for getting together today (short notice, I know). If not, let's reschedule for Sunday, June 18th or the weekend of June 24th. The 17th does not work for me. I'm still willing to travel as far as Towson, MD (or equivalent).

PN, I was “technically” online but running errands and such so I didn’t see your pm till later in the day.
Next weekend is iffy and the following I’m out of town.

I’ll keep an eye on the tread and chime in when my schedule is a little less jammed.

Random dates, paired with random ideas. How do these sound?

July 24 - Lunch at TGI Fridays in Rockville at 2PM, then off for a mini-meet n shop at REI

Aug 21 - 1st annual 'Sweat N Camp' at a national/state/KOA campsite

Sept 12 - Breakfast/brunch at an IHOP, somewhere near Baltimore or DC to get some east coasters involved

Also, how about something regular? Like the 2nd Saturday of every month, meet at an IHOP at 10AM? And we can cycle it. One month - Frederick, the next, Rockville, the next, Baltimore. Spread the love around to get people involved, and not have to drive an hour every month?
I personally vote for the regular meetings/meetups. Makes it easier to plan and whatnot.

I'm game for July 24th!

As for regular meetings, it's nice of you to offer a vote, but, before we're organized better, I think the name of the game is take-the-lead-and-see-who-follows  That being said, a rotating cycle and regular meetups sound great and achievable.

I'll be out with Va ZS BOB shakedown that weekend.

I'll keep an eye on the thread and see when the next one is.

Well, I was at TGI Friday's in Rockville from 1:45 - 2:30 PM. What happened? Would have been nice if you at least replied to my PM earlier this week if you knew you weren't going to make it beforehand.

In terms of the rotating meets, how do these locations sound.

Hagerstown/Frederick - West
Rockville - Middle, ish
Baltimore - East

Is Baltimore far enough East for our East MD members to meet? Or would you prefer something farther, like Annapolis?

I just want to extend an invitation to all of you for a joint ZSC:021 & ZSC:002 camp and hike event. The event will be taking place Oct. 8th-10th in PA just north of the Maryland border so if any of you are interested you are more than welcome. We will be hiking a section of abandoned PA turnpike where part of the movie "the Road" was filmed. PM me if you are interested in attending and we can add you to the forum list so you can post in the thread.

We can't post on that thread because it's in your chapter section. :(

I’m thinking about shooting this weekend.
I generally go to Hap Baker, but I’m thinking about checking out Elk Neck SP.
Anyone interested?
