Cholo's Gun....

Postby Re4_HMH » Wed Oct 19, 2005 11:59 pm

I'm sorry if this is the wrong weapon forum but what is Cholo's gun made of in LOTD. I looks like it would be a gas powered nail gun the way it's shape. Anyone have an idea? I would like to find something like that. Thanks for the help.

1. Yes ... this is the wrong forum for that.

2. The weapon is completely fictional.

Sorry abput the wrong forum. Thanks for the reply though. It would be slow in a real PAW but the concept is kind of cool. Thank you.

I personally find a .40 pistol with 13 rounds to be a lot cooler than a compressed gas powered, hand loaded, short range, innaccurate, small harpoon thrower.... but thats just me.

True but at lest it was quiet and the ammunation was reuseable. A person might be able to find something similar if they go looking for diving spear guns. I know there are compressed air versions but I have no idea if a pistol version was ever made.

Edit: Found links to pistol spear guns on ebay.

It would be good for silent kills but I wouldn't use it al the time like Cholo did unless i was at least 20 feet away from no more than 3 zombies. Still a cool idea though.

I wonder how the air was compressed to fire it.

Dnt bother, it was a movie prop. I think its funn when peopel see something in a movie and automatically assume it must really work the way its portrayed and must really exist.

I think it must be. I'm planning on using a log to scoop up dog-doo, lighting it on fire, and fliping it at the zombies.

I think if you're worried with stealth and reusable ammunition you should stick to archery. A modern compound bow or a high power crossbow is the way to go. Get into fletching and you can make arrows or bolts for a couple bucks an arrow or bolt. Maybe a little more for the first batch because you have to buy some tools.

I like how the third one is listed as the 'commando' model, and able to make it past 'most metal detectors'.

If some jackball highjacks my next flight with a commando spear gun, I'm sueing this asshole.

This is funny... the whole time I watched that movie I kept thinking...

"Okay... the ammunition LOOKS like rebar and I guess it's propelled by either compressed air in a catridge or an explosive cartridge... damn what kind of power does that thing need to be able to launch a 12" piece of rebar hard enough to put it through a zombie's skull?"

I kept trying to think of some way to make it work...

I know it wont work unless you buy a real harpoon gun. My main question was how it worked. At first I thought it was a nail gun with Co2 because my dad has a nail gun that looks exactly like it but how is the damn thing gonna go through a human skull and hit the ceiling and partially go through that without losing any speed. If it was just a prop they could have made it a little more realistic.

Aren't guns that go "bang" good enough anymore?

Cholos 'gun' looked like a scuba divers spear gun to me.

To me it looked like it was built out of a caulk gun by some props department.
