Tomahawks, Axes and Hatchets---Warning, PHOTOS

Postby olaf_yahoo » Wed Oct 19, 2005 2:41 am

I thought I would post these because someone might enjoy them and some of these would make very fine weapons in any battle. I am not going to describe every item as that would take a long time and it's really late here. If anyone has questions about any of these ask and I can give specifics. Some of these are top of the line items by very good makers, others are kinda crappy but I am putting them all here because everone likes something different. Some of these designs if made with better materials would be kickass. If anyone wants more photos or more of something specific they are avaliable. On to the sharp and not so sharp choppy toys!

For kicks I am going to start with my favorites...

Cool pics and all, but what would be cooler is if you had posted the URL's os the sites where we can look into buying these items.

I don't know how I would do that, 90% of that stuff was files I uploaded from my computer after having been there for who knows how long. Don't expect me to do ALL the work for ya, I know of some of those, the Strider brand and a couple others but not nearly that whole list. I'll come back later and label the ones I know with their names to make it easier though.

I recognize a lot of these. Most of them you can find over at http://www.tadgear.com If oyu have a specific one in mind let me know and I should be able to tell you where they are at. Most of these fall in the $250-$500 range, though.

Out of the ones that you have used what would you consider to be the best tool(toughest, enough mass to cut well, most comfortable, etc) price not an issue.
BTW some of those are bueatiful!

I've given some thought into practicing with throwing weapons, mainly knives because they are small and unobstrusive. However, after looking at these pictures it makes me want to pick up a throwing axe or two and learn how to toss 'em.

Yeah, the axe that broke through all the cement? Damn. That's what I'm talking about.

The one you all are focusing on which is also a favorite of mine is made by a friend and is not yet avaliable to the public. He is however going to be releasing it within a few months I believe, I do not yet know of the price tag. There is yet no website to buy it from either but I will keep you all posted, when I know you will know.

I honestly believe the hatchet/axe is one of the most versatile and important tools one could have.

It's great for melee combat, plus it's so damn useful. Hammer, nailpuller, chopper... It's quite nice.

I totally agree. A good quality axe is about the most important survival tool I can think of. A knife is important, but I would even take an axe ahead of a knife if I had to choose.

Of course, it has to be a GOOD axe, and it has to be SHARP!
