I think its possible. How can you believe ebola is real and zombies are impossible? In my book its likely to be a mutated virus affecting the living not a bring back the dead scenario.

I believe zombies - as in living dead- are just as possible as rage, viral, parasite, braindead or Rec II zombies.

Before you flame me: I am a believer in Resurrection after Death (not necessarily in the same body though) if you believe in Jesus Christ (but you could also believe in Allah, Buddha, Krishna, The Force or Santa for that matter). So the real living dead are just empty (from a medical pov) dead vessels to me where the soul has left the body and it's being ruled by a virus, parasite, you name it.

Having an (very) open mind is an advantage for survival. The moment you restrict yourself to some concepts, you'll be less or more handicapped.

Faith is my shield but in my right hand I have rifle to deal with aberrations.

The walking dead? i doubt it, but i for sure think rage could play a factor the movie Quarantine and 28 Days later would be as close to zombies as there could be. Animals already can carry rabies and such which can cause them to kill others.

My money is on the .gov scientists weaponizing some otherwise innocuous bug, and it hitches a ride out of the lab on a janitor, ironically named Patient Zero. Probably a Rage type of end result. Of course, no one will twig to the obvious cure in time, which is Chicken Soup- it cures everything. Except for the chickens- it's kind of rough on them.

All it will take is the swine flu to evolve into a disease that disables the brain from functioning correctly but does not suppress the blood flow enough to kill a person. I know it is not the technical definition of zombie as that would be someone who died and was reanimated presumably without a soul but it would be possible for someone to become basically brain-dead but still capable of moving and hurting people. I doubt that would cause them to crave brains but it does give the rest of us the responsibility of dealing with the infected population.

Technically this is already quite possible. With uncontrolled flu you will have a raging fever (No pun intended) and this could make you very delirious which could make you go into a rage, infect other people etc.

There are many dieseases out there which we are dicovering every day. Ebola was unknown until we stumbled upon it in the deep jungle. The deeper we go into jungles and the more free travel we have across borders the greater the chance of some new pandemic streaking across the planet endangering humanity. Could it be something like a mutated form of contagious rabies? Absolutely. Anything that destroys the higher function of the human mind and regresses said human to instinctual behavior could be recognized as a zombie.

Zombies like George Romero's? Naw. Zombies like 28 Days Later? Why not? Do I think it might happen? Nope, but fun to write and think about. I've always tried to impress the importance of being prepared to all of my children, but I have one son who scoffed at the idea until he discovered the 2012 thing. When he asked me if I thought it was a good idea to try and prepare for 2012 I told him I didn't care what he prepared for, as long as he prepared.

i belief that re-animated corpses are possible. not just yet. mibee the 15-20 year mark.
not because i want that to be true but i feel its feesable. the rage thing yeah aswell.
i think we could get to that point where the human knowledge overcomes itself and something like that happens.
(Another example of this would be neuclear bombs...)
anyway... yeah. im pretty sure itd be possible if the correct research was put into it.
(if zombies did happen i dont believe the virus would mutate and become stronger (as shown in resident evil with the "T Virus"))

It all comes down to this. What does the term Zombie mean to you? Many relate the term zombie with a corpse that was been but has been reanimated because hell is full and so they walk the face of the earth. Others look at zombies as a mythical black magic curse that turns then into brain dead killing machines (this is actually where zombies got their start was black magic voodoo) and lastly you have people like me who look at zombies as virus infected hosts who carry their virus around spreading it via a bite.

I will not say that I believe such a virus could exist, it already does. Rabies is a virus transmitted between animals via a bite that, over a course of months, slowly starts to kill the person, makes them afraid of water and makes them violent and causes them to attack and bite other people spreading the virus. Rabies isn't as main stream today as it use to be, but all it would take is someone jacked up person to altar rabies into a super virus and you have your "Rage" virus creating, what I would term them to be, zombies.
