I guess the claw of the hammer would do well enough to represent the claw of a crowbar...I'm a bit interested in seeing the pointy end of a crowbar stabbed into it, but I doubt that it would really do anything.

I'd also be interested in seeing a long-handled, metal-shod bludgeon, either the rear of a wood axe or a maul.

Maybe a large shovel?

Kyle's already done that, and I don't really want to repeat things.

First updates coming tonight, when my dad gets home so he can hold the camera!

Better get him a set of goggles too.The last thing either of you needs is to lose an eye. Good luck and stay safe. Their evil regime has gone on long enough time to bring on the hurt and make 'em pay!!

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. But any shards would hit the camera (probably) though it can't hurt to be safe.

Yeah, pushy parents. God!

About the Hissatsu... and my... uh... Does it count as erectile dysfunction if it doesn't go away (as opposed to not coming at all? No pun intended there, guys. I hope I just made everyone who didn't see the pun right away look for it and get grossed out. Heh.).

What can I say? I'm young. Virile, as it were -- a definite must-have trait for a successful zombie hunter, I think.

By the way... The Pick 'n Save on the other side of town has coconuts. The un-scored kind. So I'm thinking I might have to test out the headbutt for myself.

...And I WILL do it. Maybe I won't succeed. Okay, I definitely won't succeed. But I've also got a pith helmet (read: neato safari helmet with the cool rim. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch the movie Zulu. It's what the limeys are wearing).

Pith Headbutt? I think yes!
If you drop a zombie, does that count as a kill?

...Think about it.

Alright, videos require me to have a camera, sunlight, and someone to hold the camera, which is hard to get since my dad works until there's no sunlight, so I think I'll just go with photos. I should be able to get some up in the next few days.

Results, finally! Here we go! No video, sadly, as I gave up on getting someone else to hold the camera, since that was what was delaying me so much. I left the plastic wrapping on the coconuts to simulate skin.

Safety first! This is my leather/kevlar glove, I could not cut myself while wearing this if I tried. And I have tried, in case you were wondering. In the name of science, I'm not emo. I climbed up barbed wire. Couldn't feel it.
Image

I was wearing Welding Goggles as well, but the pic I took of those was really dark, so never mind.

The weapons used!

Image

My folding entrenching tool. Got it at the local army surplus for $8.

Image

Steel toed boot! Wally world, $30.

Image

The pavement! Local government, taxes so far have cost me... I don't wanna do math.

Image

From the makers of the ground comes... the curb!

Image

Bushman knife! I decided to add this since I was curious about it, even though no one nominated it. Also from the army surplus store, $14.

And now... the results! Dun dun dun!!!!

*long break for suspense*

Image

The first strike from the entrenching tool was a glancing blow, shaved off a bit of the outside, and the second, well, that's what you're seeing here.

Image

Curbstomping. The first time was a glancing blow (what is it with me and those?) which produced a fracture down the side of it and made it spin about fifteen feet to the right. The second did this. You can't see from this pic, as I took it before I picked up the coconut, but I spun it a little this time too, and the underside is really crushed.

Image

Smashing it on the ground from a height of 1.5' did this on the first try. It's hard to get a glancing blow when you're hitting the Earth. Also very crushed on the underside. Oddly, while the coconut (skull) was crushed, and coconut milk (brain juice) was leaking out, the plastic wrapper (skin) was barely broken, only about as much as a skinned knee. So, umm, lesson is, it's probably a bad thing to get hit in the head no matter whether the skin is broken or not?

Image

And the Bushman. Sadly, not very great results. I tried several times, several different ways, but none pierced the... hull, I guess? There's a word for it, I know it... whatever. If this were a person, they'd be in a world of hurt, but I doubt they'd die. Zombies, I doubt this would do anything. That weird dark torn up spot is one of the places I hit.

Try getting a broomstick and fasten the Bushman to it using duct tape, then give it another go. Great Job! Way to Bring on the Hurt!

On the curb stomping, maybe you should cut a mouth like section out and make the coconut "bite" the curb. Im sure if you had help you could get creative with a zombie and do this.

saw on page 2 some1 already mentioned this.

Sweet. Hey, does anybody know if anyone has coconut tested any firearms (preferably with different ammo types where applicable, i.e. shotgun)? I'm thinking about doing that.

I did a coconut a while ago with a 1000 fps airgun...it was kind of interesting. Penetration was pretty surprising. Softer parts of the coconut it blew right through, harder, thicker parts got shattered. I was using regular old dome tips, too. Somebody advised me I would get better performance with pokey-tipped ones; that could be true. At any rate I believe on the basis of that test that a shot to the soft center areas of the face could certainly be fatal.

They're supposed to be $1.50 each, but when I bought ten they only rung up for $4.50 for some reason.
