I saw a trailer for it too...
I'm a little worried with how much the New Vegas skyline looks built up. I kind of like wandering in the wastes and stumbling along on what's left of the old world.

Yeah i was kind of thinking the same thing murph. What made fallout 3 great was the desolation, with the random gem in the middle of nowhere. It felt like you had really accomplished something.

Rather than beginning with a nameless survivor in a vault, New Vegas begins with a bang. According to USA Today, it starts with your character being shot and left for dead in the middle of the desert, forever unable to complete his delivery mission. Thankfully, a robot (seen in the teaser trailer) digs you out and takes you to Doc Mitchell to be patched up. There you'll be able to customize your character in a way that sounds similar to Fallout 3.

Once ready, you'll be able to explore the area around New Vegas. The game takes place several years after the events of Fallout 3, but that storyline does not continue in New Vegas. Pete Hines, VP of Marketing for Bethesda, told USA Today, "Vegas is up and running. It is not a ghost town. It still exists and thrives. There are casinos, and you can go down onto the Strip. It will have a very different feel from that standpoint."

The area to explore is roughly the same size as what you got in Fallout 3 and Bethesda is promising that it will take hundreds of hours to explore.

I also get chills when I hear Ron Pearlman's voice. Fallout was/is such an awesome universe to go wandering in.

Looking forward to New Vegas. I like the idea of a functioning city in the Wastes. They've visited the idea before, with Vault City in Fallout 2. I reckon seeing a post-apocalyptic war would be pretty rad.

I'm just happy to see the Fallout series back on the west side where it belongs! I will definitely be picking this up as soon as it's released. I hope they have a lunchbox version for this one too!

I will get this game a couple years after its release so the modding community can fix and enhance it first. Fallout MMO sounds like it is back on track for a 2012 public beta release though.

The Fallout IP is currently in the middle of a legal mess. Both Bethesda and Interplay claim that the other violated their agreement, and that they own the full rights to the IP. While a properly executed Fallout MMO would be awesome, allot is going to depend on the pending court case.

Or The NCR. I'm tipping we're going to see Harold somewhere in Vegas. That whole Oasis/Harold sidequest was one of the only in-game plot links to Fallout canon. It was done pretty well, too.

If we're going to Vegas this time, I hope there's not going to be another Myron.


You know, I played both Fallout's so much as a kid, I started playing Mass Effect again, and I walked past one NPC in the Citadel, and what do you know, she sounded exactly like Tandi.
It was then that I wondered how I ever functioned socially as a kid.
It was a wonder I ever had girlfriends.

The original Fallout game is what got me interested in the PAW when I was 16. Then Fallout 2, then Fallout Tactics, and then a horrible drought for like 8 years.

I love the series for the ambiance, the humor, the running gags through all 4 games (making me laugh about something I haven't thought about in 13 years is an amazing feat for a videogame) and the level of freedom and malleability given to you and your character.

I will purchase and play to death, any game in this series.


If you have only played Fallout 3, I highly recommend you go find copies of 1, 2, and tactics. They're dated, but only in the graphics department.

I just took a look at those screen shots, and while I am digging the more western feel (I always kinda thought that wasteland was kinda synonymous with desert) WTF is up with the M4? It's not a big deal, and I understand the use of the Hi-Power in the other screenshot, but I always liked the fact that the fallout series had it's own original guns for the most part. And yes I know about the Desert Eagle from the first game and the AKish and G3ish guns from Fallout 3, but those are both more traditional cold war guns. Perhaps I am being way to picky, but the m4 just doesn't feel right.

I'd does look kind of out of place, but I suppose that's just because I've been playing Fallout 3 for forever and a day. The games take place way in the future though, so I guess there's no reason for an m4 not to exist...and the whole "New Vegas" idea is supposed to be like a preserved town, so maybe they'll actually have shops selling some newer guns that aren't..all..tattered and old.

Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics had plenty of "real" guns. AK, S&W M29, Desert Eagle, G11, FN FAL, P90, M14, M1 Garand, MP5, Sig P220... hell Fallout Tactics even has a "Casull Revolver"

Yeah, some of the company names were a bit different for some of the more exotic weapons but they had heaps of old school weapons.

They had the Reavers carrying Steyr Augs in Fallout Tactics, I remember that. And I carried a Browning .50 cal through a heap of Tactics too

I remembered the Reaver/Steyr thing right around my first week of rifle drill. Made me giggle on and off for about six months.
