OK, the cost for shuttling the all the boats we bring is a flat $45 bucks. So far, there's myself, Dragon Rouge, M1lkm4n, KLRvagabond, possibly one of his co-workers and 5 boats (1 canoe and 4 kayaks). Troesler is also gonna try to make it. I need to know who's definintely going, who needs to rent a boat and what kind. We'll need to make reservations at the first of the week.

I have a spare paddle and some dry bags too. Bobbie will probably need to borrow a life jacket from someone if we have one small enough; she's pretty little.

Ive got her covered then .One of my spares I bought for my nephew .Its for a medium child or micro sized adult.Ill drag it along so she can try it on for size.Does she have a suitable knife and safety whistle? Ive already packed my cat shovel so no one really needs to drag another along.

I believe I have her covered on knife and whistle. Is there a legal requirement for a flashlight as well, or is that a 'signalling' thing that's covered by the whistle?

I don't think we'll be paddling after dark. But a flashlight in your kit is a pretty useful item.

Absolutely. I just don't necessarily want her burning up my CR123s; they're pricy. ;) A cheap AA in a dry bag will work if it doesn't have to be accessible while paddling.

I'm not sure about the facilities available. Is anyone bringing a latrine spade?

DR has it covered.

I'm looking forward to another kayak trip; I'll go ahead and start packing the Intimidator Meat Snacks.

Yeah...those Intimidator Snacks paired with some iodine-tabbed Brazos water make for a unique culinary experience.

Starting to make Mountain House and MREs sound like some gourmet fare next to that.

What are our plans looking like as far as meeting up? Are we just going to try and find each other up there? What sort of time are we looking at?

We should probably try to hook up with you in Denton and with Kirby in McKinney. We're looking at a 4-5 hour drive. I haven't heard from Tony in Paris if he is definitely going yet.

Really it looks like it might be easier for those east of 35 or nearer to Dallas to go 30 to 259 or something; it's a much straighter shot that way. Or perhaps 24 or 82, at which point we could all meet up in Paris and convoy the rest of the way.
From Denton it'd be an option to go 380 to McKinney or up to Gainesville and then east on 82, but I'm thinking that'd only be a shorter trip for you and I.
Who all's planning to drive, and how are we moving boats/gear/people around? I can take the Subaru, but I don't have racks for kayaks (of course, mine's in a bag, so that's a nonissue).

From McKinney (Melissa actually), we can take 121 and hit 82 at Bonham, then across to Paris. AKAIK, I'm driving my truck with my canoe, kayak and Chris' kayak and our gear.

No trailer. Canoe on top and the kayaks in the bed. We've done this before. Of course one has to be conservative with how much extraneous stuff he carries this way.

What time, approximately, will the Denton crew be passing through McKinney? The northeast Dallas contingent will be waiting there to join the convoy.

I'll actually be heading south first and leaving from the Carrollton area; where will y'all be starting at?
I think Facebook told me that the plan was to all be heading out from the McKinney Waffle House at 7:00.

I'm going to have to bow out. I have been trying to get everything sorted out this week, but it looks like I still have obligations Saturday morning.

OK then...there maybe another opportunity later in the summer.

This is the plan-the rendezvous point will be Waffle House in McKinney, in the vicinity of the corner of 75 and 380. We will meet and hopefully be leaving there between 7 and 730. As I said on the FB page, if you want to actually get food, you should show up early. Then it's 121 to Bonham, 82 to Paris, 271 to Hugo and 70 to Broken Bow. Camping will be primitive along the shore somewhere.
