What did you do to prepare this weekend?

Postby grevengrevs » Sun Sep 18, 2011 10:32 pm

I hate seeing this section so dead so i figured I would ask.

I hit the range here in San Angelo with my neighbor where we broke in my Mossberg Persuader on a bunch of water jugs. We probably went through 150 rounds of 380 ACP, 9MM, 40SW and 223 ammo. We had a good time out at the range and next time we go I will post here to see if anyone wants to go.

This morning before the Cowboys game went and bought a 18" pry bar for the bag and some cheapy LED lights that were on sale for 1.50$

Pretty much sums it up

Hope yall had a great weekend!

We went to the ranch this weekend and did a little work, spent some time hunting dove, and spent some time sighting in a new Ruger 10/22. My wife and I are attending the Applesseed shoot next month and we will each have a 10/22 with M14 style sights, sling rings and a garand style sling, and extended mag release.

Nice!
I keep looking at the 10/22 here in town whenever I go to Wallyworld or Academy but something keeps popping up preventing me from snagging it. This week is driving lessons for my son, $360!!!! Insane, I remember it cost me 100$ and was taught at the high school.

Oh well, better them teach him than me.

I canned some salsa with the little one, already gone through 2 jars and entered a jar in the fair. Also got about 1200 pounds of free gravel from craigslist, all that was needed was a shovel and a trailer to haul it away. I intend on using the nice white stuff around the house under the windows for an extra measure of security (maybe with some nice little shrubs, or rasberry bushes) and the rest is going in front of my shop so I can use the Oxy torch without worring so much about starting the grass on fire.

Sounds yummy. I don't guess we will be canning or freezing much this year. Our garden basically withered under the heat and never produced.

Same thing happened to us, I had to buy a bit of the produce at the store for the salsa. Though I have to say the fall garden is doing rather well for what little we planted. We let Riley and her cousins plant the last of the stored seeds from 2 years ago at her slumber party. All the girls had fun weeding digging and planting (I dont think the cousing get away from the TV much) and now we should have some pumpkins and squash for them by halloween, "somethings" getting all the root vegitables though but I didnt expect any this year anyway.

Congratulations. All of our melons are about the size of baseballs and starting to wither. We moved our garden to raised beds this year and I don't know if the soil wasn't up to par or if they just got to hot.

Definitely a tough year for our garden as well. We picked a good mess of black-eyed peas yesterday and some yellow squash. Both will be good additions to the larder. We'll dehydrate some of the raw squash and freeze some that's cooked. Peas will get canned. May not get ANY peppers or tomatoes! Those that lived through the summer are now getting attacked daily by our chickens. Not surprising…it's about the only things that are green. Not even any weeds to speak of. May yet get a few cantaloupes and a couple of more watermelons. Pretty pitiful.
Old enough to know better….too stupid to keep my mouth shut about it.
