2 nights ago, some friends helped me replace the in-tank fuel pump. Now it starts every time I turn the key, and I don't need to tap on the bottom of the gas tank before it'll start :)

I bought one...... a 1968 Land Rover Series IIA 4 door :D . If nothin else, it gives me something to do. I hope to have some pictures and a thread for her sometime in the next week or so, although the thread will be updated sporadically. Still have the Wrangler in case of a bug out situation before the landy gets finished.

Akeuri, can't wait to see photos of your new Series Landy! Everything in them is so simple and easy to work on. I love tinkering with mine, a '63 IIa shorty:

On topic, reorganised my kitchen/food supplies from 4 boxes to 3 so I have more room for nourishment and bought a cargo barrier to seperate the back of my head from the load when stopping suddenly (for my '85 LR 110, not the Series)

FINALLY got around to replacing my catalytic converter. For the auto guys on here, the substrate came loose and was rattling as all hell at idle, but no codes (at throttle I just couldnt hear it haha). Put in a Magnaflow OEM replacement, sounds a little throatier, which I dont know if I like. Loud is fun, but too loud is not conducive to the grey man theory...

But then again, the 3 non-factory antennas and star of life decals might tip people off  Tomorrow I'm going to replace the O2 that we toasted trying to take off the old cat-pipe we took off.

I just bought myself a Tough Country Deluxe bumper this morning for my '11 Ram 1500 ST. Had to special order it. Cost me $1400 and change, installed, out the door. Ordered it from Shawn at Lignit Tire in Beulah, ND (yeah, I know...I'm in Canada. Driving 8 or 9 hours round trip to the US would actually cost me LESS than international shipping and brokerage). It's not listed on Tough Country's website yet because they just finished R&D on it last month, but the part # is DFR1122D if you contact your local Tough Country dealer.

Here's a link to their website with a lot of pics:
http://www.toughcountry.com/new/sear...luxe_dodge.php

I got mine just with the receiver tube and shackle mounts, as I want to mount my winch in a cradle so I can take it off when I'm tootin' around town and won't need it, I can toss it in the back. I also had mine coated with bedliner, as I do a lot of highway and gravel roads (60 miles round trip 5 days a a week) and want to keep it from getting pitted and rusty.

I was also a little worried about front-end sag with a 200 lb bumper and 100 lb winch + cradle on the front end, so I also picked up some Timbren SES Suspension Helpers for the front which should eliminate any sag when the front end is loaded up.

http://www.timbren.com/timbren-appli...s/DF15004B.pdf

It's gonna take a few weeks for my bumper to get built, so in the meantime, I plan on having some Bilstien 5100's installed while I wait.

Pics when it's installed.

Any particular reason? I'm personally not a fan of them -- they make me sweat and tends to reflect body heat back at me. :?

i figured with my 3 kids and 2 dogs, they would protect the seats a little better.. but the wife talked me into going with the cabela ones that are like $30.00 each

also i started piecing together a stereo for my truck... cant really hear the stereo with those stacks.

so I bought myself an old school Rockford Fosgate 800A2 amp, and as soon as i find the right deal I will be buying (2) 8" RE Audio subs, which will be put into a custom made ported box under the rear seat.

I feel you bro. My 11mo. old Mastiff/Lab cross is now 90 pounds, and drools all over my truck....so I'm gonna go with Neoprene covers, too, as he gets carsick on long (2+ hour) trips. I just did a 500w Alpine Class D amp and a single 10" Alpine Sub (1023D) and my truck is loud enough that i have to yell at the passenger when the volume is 30/40. The only problem I found is that the sub under the rear seat and amp makes me lose 2/3 of my interior storage space. Lucky for me my 2011 Ram 1500 Crew Cab has these cool little storage buckets under the rear seat floor mats that allow me to put some stuff in there.

well luckily for me, i have an extended cab, an there is no room to put behind the rear seat, so its either put it under the rear seat, which i had used the area for my guns, or make the center jump seat up front into a small enclosure. but since the wife likes sitting in that seat to be close to me, that's a no go. so after thinking about it, i will loose that little storage area, but will get a gun rack for the back window, and make a custom slide out drawer for the pistols under the front jump seat or some little pistol pockets onto the seat covers.

I been doing a few things today on the ole truck I started cleaning the front wheel wheel wells again!, as the first time I used a drill and wire wheel and tremclad primer which started rusting the next day as it was water based. So I swiched over to a wire wheel on my grinder for the difference of a really deep cleaning and faster. I mounted my frount bumber after painting it, and stripping the paint on the truck cap in between coats and cleaning. started removing the surface rust on the body as well.
The wasps are really annoying this year as the willowtree is putting out tons of sap and there swarming the back yard, I had to move my truck over away from the tree for the sap & painting as well. I pick up another large paint and rust stipper from 3M I just love that thing for stripping the paint off and getting the rusting pits clean best buy for $10 bucks. I also swiched paints after I did the front wheel wells to armour coat rust paint, cheaper and better paint for metal.

I agree! Does the truck have a name or model number to distinguish it from ohter models of the same mfg. or is it the only truck GMC built in 79?

Sorry if it´s a dumb question, but i´m not familiar with GMC´s around that age.

79 Sierra C25 2wd series 3/4 ton 6 cyl 250 cid, 3 on the tree, has the heavy rear end in it posi. It's a good work truck for hauling stuff around towing and had some well built up undercoating still there, it only has a 100k on it. p00ch has a good write up which really be identical for most parts "from wheeler to BOV". would have loved to get a 4 wheel drive with the same set up, but there rare to come even in good shape.
I'm the 3rd owner of it, the first old fellow took really good care of her, the 2 owner was going to fix her up but never got around too it, it sat around mainly used it for pulling his ATV's around , had the roof visor and couple of bottom door rocker panels in the back when I bought it. I did fixed a bit of the rocker panels with what was there rather than cut out the entire section. It did have mud flaps on it at one time but there were taken off, if you do a fair amount of gravel road driving without mud flaps the gravel and sand will chew the hell of it in no time. the undercoating really help in preserving it for a lot of damage and the rock guard. The other thing I really like any vechile is the rubber lining vs carpet easy to clean and maintain, saves the floor from rotten out. The truck looked worse than it actually was when I got it, just starting to blister. The other good thing was the amount of grease and oil that over the years coated the rest of the front end. The other thing is all the crap that get caught in the rain gutters will also speed up the rotten process leaves twigs ect always good to get that crap out.

Discovered during a routine check that my spare tire was flat. I aired it back up and noticed it was leaking around the bead. Took the tire off and found the entire bead area was crusted with rust and tire sealant. Took a wire wheel to the rim and a scotchbrite to the tire to get all of the funk/rust off.
Once cleaned, I had the tire remounted and balanced. It holds for now but the search is on for a replacement wheel and tire for my spare.
