Cipro and its effect on the Zed Plague

Postby Roman DeLay » Thu Jan 11, 2007 8:32 pm

A while back my girlfriend got a prescription to Cipro for an ear infection. Afterwords she did some research and founf out that it can have permanent side effects.

Here's an article about it: http://www.ph.ucla.edu/EPI/bioter/ciprodownside.html

For those who don't know, Cipro is one of the strongest antibacterials. Here's a link that provide a good range of information (pros vs cons, etc) http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/cip1082.htm

Anyway, after the Coming Zombie Apocalypse, this shit is going to be a valuable commodity. I'll be able to trade it for lots of stuff; firearms, food and water, and other supplies.

Arguably, Cipro could counteract the infection if taken in high enough a dose.

Only if it's a bacteria.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own...

Only if it's a non-resistant strain of bacteria. If it's a virus then it's a no-go. And if it's infecting living human cells and converting them for their own use rather than simply eating them; then I'd bet that a zombie outbreak would most likely be viral.

In my nightmares, the Zombies are a nano-tech infection used by an invading alien race to produce cannon-fodder troops around the landing points of their assault ships.

If you're fighting the zombies, then you're in the Forward Edge of Battle. If you manage to stand your ground against the shambling dead, the next layer are the fresher/smarter zombies who can use simple firearms.

If you manage to survive that, you're hit by the aliens themselves, with weapons that range from chem-powered projectile weapons (about the equivlant of assault rifles) for the grunt-infantry to Clarke's Law Mages - "officer" types who use technology that's adavanced enough to be considered magic.

Oh, did I mention the "infantry" guys have Nano in their claws and teeth that produce the "Zombie Nano" ?

My nightmares suck.
