Magpul iPhone cover tested at 11k feet

I don't know how many people have iPhones, but I am guessing a pretty good amount. Here is a video of my cousin who is a skydiving instructor taking a 91 year old woman out for her first skydive. At about 2:42 in, you will see his iPhone go flying from his pocket at around 11k feet.

He called AT&T and they activated the family map to locate his phone. He took a paper copy of the map out to the woods with him two days later and actually found the phone. The screen wasn't cracked or anything. It survived an 11,000 foot fall without a scratch. Pretty cool!

Not saying that it will withstand all issues, but for a $10 cover, seems like something that would be worth investing in if you are an iPhone owner.

We have plenty of those at work and I don't think they're worth shit. I'd be willing to bet that it had nothing to do with the case and everything to do with the ground it landed on. Assuming it was nice soft grassiness, I think that was why. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... hutes.html

I got a nice leather case for my iPad from Saddleback Leather Co that has some decent shock absorption that's nonexistent in any hard case I've seen. Hard cases transfer energy fast, thin cases don't allow enough absorption even if they are soft.

My problem with iPhones/Pods isn't so much protection from drops, as the fact that they are so slippery in my meaty paws they squirt out and crash to the ground.

I just want a cheap, low-profile case that provides traction in hand and in pocket, and the MagPul case is a perfect solution for me. Plus in orange I can find the darned thing.
