Problem is during the right atomspheic times everyone is using the radio that brings up the nosie floor even more. a CB is NOT a good reliable long range communication radio. hand held to handheld 2-3 miles, mobile to mobile up to 10 miles, base to base 25-50 miles. Any more range is llucky chance and with low solor cycle right now your reliable base/base range is going to be pretty crappy as well.

I found this thread on another P/S site. Seems to have a good collection of information on it and some pretty good videos too. I got a couple of these and I am very happy with their short range potential. I still need to learn more about the how to set up each radio with it's own number. Looks like it is well outlined, I just need to try it and make it work.

While looking around the communications section I found a few threads on the i355 and the DirecTalk

I LOVE the sordid head set. I am near deaf in one ear and it is a cross between a hearing aid, como head set, and ear pro. work great! but it is big and expensive

I have seen the UT modules on the web for about $100 apiece, but declined to purchase since I shouldn't use them on GMRS and amatuer radio. We will see if the policies of the new federal administration make me change my mind.
