And I'm down another 3lbs to 229! I'm hoping that my stress is just about over, but I also hope I can stay below the 230 mark for a while.

GOOD LUCK PEOPLE!

It's totally doable by the way. It needs a change in lifestyle though to keep it off.

I'm 6' and went from 240 down to 200 in a matter of about 3 months of hardcore dieting. I ate 1/3 of the calories I burned and then with some really strict dieting dropped down to 187. But that required waaaaaaaay too much control for me. I've been 200 give or take for the last 2 and a half years. So it is doable guys :)

im under the impression that oatmeal aint the healthiest thing for you... especially that instant stuff.

though I like it cuz it's cheap and shuts my tummy up.

No instant oats here. I take the extra time to cook steel cut oats. I can't stand the mushy rolled oats anymore, let alone instant! I also add a banana and some nutmeg. It's pretty filling and tides me over till lunch, though I do alternate between that and egg omlette sometimes.

Sadly the whole soup for lunch idea I've let slip. Still stuck at 195. My recent doctor's visit for acid reflux one of the nurses took me aside and told me about a weightloss program. Looks pretty simple, b=no cooking involved and you don't have to think about it since it is pre-packed food.

But... the whole point of losing the weight and being more healthy is to do it myself rather than buying bags of pre-packed stuff. No matter how balanced it is, I feel like if I join this 'program', I'd be dependent on it. Quite the opposite of self-sufficiency :/

Hey all. Well I just found this thread and I didn't read all the posts, just the first and last page and it seems like a great idea and everyone seem so to be doing really well. So I might join in.
But, I have a problem with consistency and very lazy about coming on the computer and shooting out updates, but I do have a marble notebook I use to write my daily activities and expenses, so I don't see why I can't add a spot for food consumption.

My name is Sean
I'm 23
The last time I weighed myself was probably march and that was around 325.
My goal is to be around 275 give or take.
My reason for wanting to lose weight is to feel comfortable about myself when I'm around my friends and girlfriend or even at the pool... not a fan of taking off the shirt at all.

Since the last time I weighed myself, I'm pretty sure I've lost a little bit of weight, because my girlfriend cooks all this healthy food for me.
But I will tell you whats a great way for me to keep the weight down. I work at Belmont Park (horse track) and it's all physical labor work which I love and it keeps everything balanced. So if I get down to my target weight. I can pretty much stay there.

Hey everyone... its been awhile since I've even peaked in this thread, but I gotta spread the good news.

Since I started back in march (starting weight around 375lbs @ 6ft, 48-50 waist), I'm down to 305lbs (42" waist). This is the most weight I've lost... ever. I'm still going strong, and have been very happy at the rate of which I'm losing it. I've been wearing the same belt, and have to punch a a couple new holes in it every few weeks, its been good motivation.

Granted, a lot of this has to do with getting off of my horrific work scedule, as well as losing a bit of the relationship fat that tends to creep up on us.

Good thread. I had a confluence of events happen around the holidays 2008 and decided to get a grip on my eating habits. These factors were:
- I was gaining weight every month and my clothes were getting uncomfortable.
- I was weighing more than I ever had before.
- I read an article about how people within BMI get paid and promoted more often.
- I was thinking about interviewing and looking for another job.
- My daughter compared me to Homer Simpson.
- My epilepsy was worsening and I was starting to have other problems that were definitely weigh-related: heart burn, achy feet and joints, breathlessness, asthma, increasing blood pressure, and other things.

For the past 5 years, I've been doing weightlifting and running and feel/felt pretty good. I never adjusted my diet though because I rationalized that if I was exercising, everything would be okay. I felt I needed to re-evaluate and on Feb 1st, I started a diet that basically cut out all sugary carbs from my diet and went high fiber, high protein, and added breakfast in while maintaining my exercise. I'm 5'9 btw.
- Feb 1, 2009: 42" waist, 35% body fat, 232 lbs.
- Nov 1, 2009: 34" waist, 28% body fat, 179 lbs.
- Goal is to get within BMI, which will be around 165 lbs.

So far, I get weird candy cravings... and often for really shitty candy. But I've held off and feel great! ZS has helped me get more prepped and I've added weekend hikes with my BOB, dog, wife, and daughters into the mix.

Still hovering around 190-195. I did not join the weight loss "program" I was told about and I am glad I didn't. There are studies that say it is a multi-level marketing scam and they found high amounts of lead in the foods.

So... still eating the steel-cut oats or an omelet for breakfast. Adding in a salad to the soup mix for lunch; I started eating out for lunch again because soup was getting boring.

School and work schedules have seen to it that I am not at the gym at all. So I will re-focus on the eating for now with emphasis on portion control.

Height: 5'2"
Starting Weight: 155
Current Weight: 145
Goal Weight: 120

I have been losing 1.5-2 pounds a week since 10/8. As of 11/18 I have lost 10 pounds.
I have been eating 1000 calories a day and going on half hour uphill hikes every day (taking 1 day off a week). On my day off I do heavy work in the garden.
I have trouble remembering to take vitamins and drink enough water.
I generally eat 3-4 meals a day, and try to keep those meals balanced in terms of carbs/fat/protein.
So far I haven't cheated. Sometimes I need cookies, so I just eat less that day to account for the cookies. If I go over, I will just exercise longer the next day. My hike burns about 400 calories/hour.

Once I reach my goal weight I will increase my caloric intake to 1700 and work on building more muscle mass.

veggies + ground turkey + tomato sauce = delicious low cal filling food.
Talapia tacos with cabbage, cheese, avocado, lime, salsa are also great.
Mix finely chopped mushrooms with ground turkey and cooked like turkey burgers, serve on rye with avocado.

I've been underweight most of my life (probably not as hard to deal with as being overweight, but it's still a problem) and I'm right on the edge at the moment, so I'm trying to put on a few pounds, I've been eating constantly and doing pushups and crunches in the morning so that the weight I do put on hopefully isn't fat. It seems to be working, my appetite has exploded, it's very difficult to get full, and I've gained a few pounds.

Congrats to everyone in this thread who's getting to the weight that they want to be.

I've been sick, so haven't exercised very much this week. Only lost a pound this week, instead of my goal of 2, but 1 is better than 0. Sort of dreading Thanksgiving. I love stuffing.

Right not I'm hovering at about 292-293lbs. I was consistently losing every week, but thanksgiving week plus finals put me at a standstill. I hope to start losing again asap, slow and steady.

Starting weight- around 375lbs in march 09'

I am sooo in on this.

Name: Alex
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 205lbs
Waist: 34"
Age: 25

I recently moved to the FL panhandle (about 8 months ago) and have put on about 10-12lbs since I got here (mostly beer). I haven't been exercising nearly as much as I had used to... (usually 2-3 times a week a run or a long bike ride).

My goal is to ride/run 3 days a week, and cut down on my junk food intake, as well as reducing portion sizes and not eating so late at night.

My goal weight is 180lbs and a 32" waist size.

I currently run 5k/10k/13.1mile races approx. every 6 weeks. my current record (this year) is a 28:00 5k, a 58:50 10k and a 2:10:00 Half marathon. When I was in high school I used to be able to run a ~18:00 5k. My goal is go sub 20:00 on my 5k times again, and run my first marathon this summer in under 4 hours. :)

291lbs as of this morning. That's a pound less than a month ago. I was mad at first but I'm thinking now that it's a pound less not a pound more so I shouldn't beat up on myself. Maybe by Valentine's Day I'll be down another pound at 290 then I can start looking forward to being down in the 280s through this summer.
