That is all.

You know... the most shameful part was, after all the trash talking of the across-the-way hippie chicks... they stayed and we left. If you can't find me it's because I'm hanging my head shamefully low. Though I felt better as the weather station got more and more Old Testament.

On the plus side, I hiked up to the range with my cleverly concealed in my backpack shotgun and 9mm with some 350+ 9mm rounds and 120+ shotgun rounds. Don't worry Murph, I had my eyes peeled for you the entire time and am 100% sure that you didn't see me. That was about it besides some snacks and drinks. Anyone who says they're carrying 100s of rounds of non-22LR ammo is full of shit. It was a 25 minute hike from camp to the top of the range, or 1.8 miles with about 300' elevation change. I kept thinking... about all the important stuff I'd have to leave behind because the ammo was taking up both space and weight.

NyKH, thanks for showing me the ham setup... and what is the model of the boots? I've looked online and am not seeing anything cheaper than $200. BBM, even though I don't drink I'm 100% confident that brewing is going to be a high-demand post-PAW survival skill. Max, thank you for taking some time with me on pistol technique, I think I at least doubled accuracy. Matt, thanks for running AV with me in spite of the zombie attack that threatened our Evil Dead viewing.

Getting bombed, scaring the hell out of the youngins from neighboring enemy camp, and creating a legendary mythical man named The Surge was the best part of the trip.

I also know I'm officially old when I'm nursing a two day hang-over. Damn.

The Surge also promised pics, so The Surge better follow through soon!

Tent Wench was a good one too.

Got a good look in the mirror this morning.. I didn't realize how much hair I burned off my face, lol.

My boots are a little rough cut from standing in the fire as well.

It was also difficult explaining to my wife that I somehow proposed marriage to a girl named Pascal from enemy camp at 5:00 am, lol.

Good times.

Had a great time guys, can't wait for the next one! We wound up stopping in Winchester for dinner and a movie, we got out at 11..... And there was no rain. I was so mad. But then I woke up this morning and it's been raining all night.

We were glad you guys came as well, a great addition to the group, and my vote for the best the best camp set-up / gear for sure, lol!

It was raining pretty good when we left, and another wave of harder t-storms was en route, so I think it was the best decision overall.

I Just went through all my gear again, and the camera is still missing.

Too bad too, there were a bunch of good shots of Rob's HAM rig on there and some video of Ryan hammering away with the Saiga, and Surge on the SBR.

Oh well, hopefully it turns up.

I love these trips, I can't stress enough what a blast it was.

Special thanks are in order for Matt, Big Boss Man and Eric in Whatever, for our awesome movie night featuring The Evil Dead.

Oh, and one more thing: HAPPY EARTH DAY!

I am at home, made it back no problem. I'll keep a look out in my stuff as well. I have to unpack (I hate that part).

Thanks again to BossMan, that was a setup of epic proportions. I think that could take on The Surge.

Ericinwherever, I'll make sure to have a more varied collection of movies next time. :) and while I agree with you about the hippie girls we don't know if they ever made it OUT.

This echo's my sentiment exactly, for me it was a long and reflective/shameful drive home. As I was watching the sun set as I drove, I was thinking I should turn around and head back. The side of me that wants to be comfortable over-ruled and I kept
driving towards home, all hope faded as I stopped at the Thai restaurant a couple of interstate exits before mine to pick up dinner. And just to be clear I am most of ashamed of myself for giving in and bugging out.

I had cautioned in the OP that this trip would be in the mountains in April, which means it could be sunny and hot or dark and snowing, or anything in between or all of the above. A few of the reasons for leaving was that they had not prepared, which is kind of ironic for a big group of preppers. I do not lay fault or blame, everyone has to do what is best for them. I also don't expect to someone to stay and be miserable, just because they didn't bring this or that. Mainly it is my own guilt for not preparing better and following through with what I started. I hope that will not happen in the future, if I have any say in it.

On another note, I hope everyone goes through their gear and makes sure they don't have Offcambers' camera. As soon as the downpour slows down I am going to do the same. I hope it is just a mistake and not something purposeful, we have had a good track record so far of respecting each other's things.

Ok, enough of the rant;

It was good seeing everyone again and meeting new folks. I am hoping we can do it again real soon !! I will start gauging interest in a summer-geddon in another month or so.

Take care all !!!!!!!!!!

Knowing the temperment of storms in that area of the mountains was part of why my group backing out after seeing the weather report for the weekend. Suddenly them not wanting to camp automatically meant that I wasn't going to camp either, and had plenty of time for other stuff. :?

So I'm right there with you in the "corner of shame." Just means I'll have to drink and shoot twice as much next time to make up for missing out. :(

I don't feel bad about bugging out at all.

My goal was to drink beer, shoot guns, and hang out with friends, all of which I did successfully on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Really the only thing we missed out of was another night of drinking in the rain, and the IHOP run.

Leave it for the kids next door to put a couple notches on their belt.. I already have a million stories about camping in the rain, the mud, a hurricane, the snow.

In the end just blame Murph. :D

Yeah that's them. I've been googling and the well seems to be running dry. Sportsman's guide has them but there up to $70/80 now.

I went back to Lexington VA today (as well as Hot Springs)
and it poured the whole day. I have no regrets about bailing
except now I'm home and dreaming of BigBossMans Irish Red. :(

I had a blast as usual and I'm always impressed that we all get along so well. I can't wait for the next one.
