Those diaries are totally getting me pysched for this game. Of course, a slide show of random words would probably work too, but these are neat. I think I'm gonna have to dust off Fallout 3 and finish up some stuff, see if I can 1000/1000 the achievements...

I've taken to playing through FO3 to attempt to alleviate the anxiety, but all I have managed to do is add fuel to the fire. Also, it seems I can't take three steps in any given direction without bumping into some form of FO:NV promotion. I'm thinking about getting my hands on a copy of Dead Rising 2 to tide me over. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I have been playing FO3 to get my fix. I cant decide if thats a good idea or bad. Im almost afraid that with so much changing im just doing myself a disservice. I have started limiting my loadouts on missions, just carrying a few weapons and a couple hundred rounds of ammo. Also not healing crippled limbs..... I am going to miss my Chinese stealth armor though :)

Man, that stealth armor was game-breaking. I tried for a long time to avoid using it but I always come back to it. It's great for lurking amongst a group of normally unapproachable hostiles and listening to them chat among one another, and with a melee weapon you can slaughter most enemies right in front of their buddies with impunity. NV and hardcore mode are certainly going to make me have to tighten up my game plan.

Well since I snipe so much I used the armor like I would a ghillie suit. I never used it in buildings or at close range as thats almost like cheating. But If Im shooting at some one from the other side of a river they should have a harder time locating me.

I use it for reverse pickpocketing those who's clothing or armor completely clashes with their character or setting.

I myself used it for something similar. I armed just about everyone in the Wasteland, even the water beggers.

Wow. That's a lot of reverse-pickpocketing. I liked to arm the caravan merchants (and their escorts) in combat armor and Chinese assault rifles. Actually that was the default load-out I gave to anybody I wound up having to escort anywhere, as well.

On another note... nine days!

Lesse... Caravan merchants and guards got power armor and Chinese assault rifles. Water beggers got 10mm pistols, revolvers, or sawed off shotguns. The entire friggin Big Town got metal armor and assault rifles. In hind sight leather armor would probably have been more appropriate. Arefu got hunting rifles except for vamp boy he got the 10mm lever action. The polygamous compound got submachine guns at first than I just went ahead and gave them all Chinese assault rifles. Including the older son I gave him a fully repaired one. Also gave the first wife and oldest daughter Merc armor. The two guards at the trader base got combat armor and Chinese assault rifles. A lot of times I just gave people fully repaired versions of what they already had. I also armed any generic traders that had camps. The tree worshiper guards got Chinese assault rifles. My lockers at home are normally filled with weapons and armor.

T minus 9. . ...

Yeah, it is a lot of R/Pickpocketing but some of them really need it. Like the kids in little lamplight. The scav teams wouldn't be dressed in boyscout scarves and crap. So I'd load them out with merc wear and hunting rifles or chinese pistols. I'd load the caravans with enclave power armor and chinese assault rifles. The Caravan gaurd would get the same armor but armed with rocket launchers. I gave Brian Wilks my tunnel snakes jacket and BB gun before sending him off to Rivet City (or little lamplight)..

Can you order it from Amazon US and have it shipped to you there? Or would that just be prohibitively expensive?

Amazon US does not ship software outside the US. I'll need a US-based webshop that ships overseas. And accepts paypal, I don't have a credit card.

Seriously guys, are you trying to encourage illegal filesharing or something?

What does it say that a game that is not even out yet gets almost 9 pages worth of posts on an adult preparedness forum
10-10-10 = 9 days to go

Won't steam give him the non American copy?

I know I was having some issues with games when I was in Cairo and Afghanistan.

But this is totally what we're preparing FOR! Fallout's got the entire shebang: raiders, mutants, oppressive governmental remnants, zombies (sorta), etc. If you can survive in Fallout, you can survive anything

Or, y'know... it could also just mean it's totally awesome :D

Yes but in the real world if you shoot some one in the head with a sniper rifle they go down with one shot

One of my biggest gripes is that you cant have a modern warfare 2 style damage system where you and the tango's can only take a few shots before you bleed out.
I only made 1 tank character and he was insane. I took every point of endurance and strength I could and spent all my perks on damage resistance. You could walk into a fire fight with a gatling laser and just lay waste to all around with hardly a care for the piddly amount of damage you took.

Well sure, there's always that. Could you imagine the resources needed to make a MW2 style game the size of a Fallout game, though? It would be insane.
