Has anyone here every used a sling? Not a sling-shot. The kind you swing around and let got a rock or slug. I wonder how useful such an item would work against small game.

I have one, not worth it. They suck major ass. Its hard to hit something small anyway so if your trying to kill game no chance of hitting it while its moving and a small chance of hitting it while its sitting still.

Thats too bad. I heard that they were surprizingly accurate. In ancient times they were commonly used in battle. I figured they were cheap, light, and have unlimited ammo. Sounds like a good BOB item but I have never tried one.

If you practice now, why not have one? If you don't know how to use one, you’re basically packing a spare thong.

Everything you wanted to know about slings, construction, use, ammo ad nauseum.

http://www.slinging.org/articles.html

From what I've read slings can be very effective but they take a lot of practice to get really good with.
