Professional quality sling-shots?

For those who live in areas where firearms are not an option and those that are smart enough to have a back up.

Ok, I know this thread has basically died but I read up on it recently and a slingshot will take out a small animal but nothing bigger. I have been playing around with mine. Its pretty tough and I have no doubt it could do that but I really doubt it could take out a zombie. It could really hurt a human too. But a kill shot will not happen. I have a burlap cloth to catch the balls I shoot and it catches them without injury to the cloth. If it can do that then think skin is going to about the same.

Hmm, what kind of ammo do you use.

Plus, the cloth is spreading it out over a loose, very wide surface, while the bones in the skull would absorb the direct blunt of it a lot worse.

I've broken through half inch of glass, wood, plastic, killed various animals, busted up fruit.

And I know that many primitive tribes hunt larger animals (wild cats, wild dogs, etc.) with them.

I mean, I don't want anyone to try to get the idea that this would be a good weapon... but hey, if its all you got.

Hey, and Robin used one in Dark Knight Returns. If it's good enough for Batman it's good enough for me!

That's why I plan on carrying only these in the PAW:

Well I guess there is no way to tell for certain unless I find a cadaver laying around and hang it in my garage. I don't want to know that badly. I'm putting a sling shot in my bag but I can't imagine using it on anything larger than a raccoon.

Oh, and I also read that if you are going to use one, placement is a big issue. Flesh will cushon the slug and you won't get a kill shot. Basically a head shot is the only one that counts for anything of significant size.

Gotta practice more.

There's one thing I love about sling shots, and that's the availability of ammo.

Toss one in your bag. If the Zombacolypse DOES occur, you'll love it when you need some squirrel, rabbit, or other small creature's meat.
If you drop a zombie, does that count as a kill?

...Think about it.

If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.

That picture F'n rocks.

Is he wearing goggles with tinted lenses against the desert sun, or is he wearing NVGs?

I can't tell, and didn't really look closely at anything but the slingshot...

Yea, with goggles underneath.

But yea, funny picture.

I don't see why having a slingshot in your BOB would be a BAD idea, they don't take up much space, and they are VERY light.

Plus if it ever breaks, you can fix it with things out there, or find a billion uses for the tubing or straps that are used on it.

Hm. I just came up with the perfect anti-zombie weapon.

A slingshot that fires cocnuts!
