cold steel 1917 navy cutlass... the coast guard is issuing 1917s again for boarding parties going onto drug ships after a sailor saved himself and others by fending off a druggy w a fire ax .

I second this. The 1917 cutlass is a battle proven design and is a nasty weapon in close in fighting. It is not a weapon for the faint of heart.

Just be aware of its and your limitations.

Aonghus : the story I read was on 1919a4. a coast guard boarding party was searching a ship when they found a stash of several million in us cash ...... a druggy came out of the next compartment w a fire ax, took out the 2nd in command w a couple of swipes, then went after the lead . no time to pull his1911 out , he pulled his 1917 straight up w his left hand and hit the bad guy in the face w the basket on the hilt ,then pushed him back (surprise!!) and ran him thru ..... end of fight... both coast guard guys survived w injury's.... and I heard that the coasties are issuing 1917's to boarding parties now.... good enough reason for me to get one....
