Everyone else: thank you for your patience and I still apologize. Between the last backlog, ZCON, and preparations for other conventions (this is our "busy season") we've dropped the ball. I've taken the membership application offline until we can clear the backlog.

Kyle, Jeff and I are still working on a more automated system. We're also working on a lower cost, online only membership (green on forums, no badge in the mail). When this new system is online (middle of the month, hopefully), you'll go green as soon as we receive the payment from PayPal. Badge will still be processed in batches, but the process on that end will be much simpler and much more streamlined.

That sounds great! Thank you!

Are physical member badges really that important? I got one but haven't needed it for anything. I would be fine with a no badge option to make things easier even if it too was $15

Some people like them. Some people don't care. That's why we will be offering a lower cost "virtual" membership.

Paid for membership not showing ZS Member

Postby BadIntel » Fri Jul 06, 2012 10:45 pm

I think the lower cost, "virtual" membership is a great idea. It will definitely make signing up more palatable to some, though I personally don't mind the current cost. I've gotten a lot of return on my investment (no, not money. I've met a TON of really great people, learned some things, and I've been able to participate in some good stuff to help out people who have been dealt a bad hand in life).

If the opportunity ever comes up for chapters to take on the responsibility of processing memberships internally, we in ZSC:015 would be more than happy to jump on that. In the meantime, while it's occasionally slow (remember, volunteers!), the system does work and, as whisk.e.rebellion has shared, a new process is in the works to make things faster/more streamlined and even CHEAPER! ZS is just getting more popular and, as with any other organization, there are growing pains :)

On a side-note, (and none of what follows is directed at any one person. Just at haters in general) ever since I've been part of ZS, either as a lurker or a paid up member, I've had no issues with the admins. If you are respectful and intelligent in your interactions on here, you are highly unlikely to receive a verbal spanking from an admin, and if you do get in trouble, suck it up and move along. I've had to put on the "admin hat" a couple times over in the ZSC:015 sub-forum, and even if it's harsh sometimes, they know it's just my responsibility to keep things in order and following the rules, and the members there respect me for it.

I've contacted admins on here, people from ZS HQ, and I've even met whisk.e.rebellion himself in person, and they're all great people. Before any of you go shooting your mouths off calling them names or accusing them of anything, remember, everyone running the ZS machine, from those at the top all the way down to individual chapter leadership, is a volunteer, donating their personal time between work and family to provide all of you with an organization that is not only fun, but is also primarily designed to help people that CAN'T worry about getting a little plastic card in the mail because they're more concerned about where their next meal is coming from, or if they're gonna get that blood transfusion they need, or if they'll be able to provide their children with the school supplies they need for their education, etc. If this seems heavy handed, sorry, but it's the truth. Go back and take a look at what ZS is about. Yeah, we go to gun ranges, talk about zombies, and play mall ninja, but our real mission as an organization is to get into the communities and do some GOOD.

If you think I'm wrong, don't like my face, or whatever, take it to PMs with me. Don't throw poop around in someone else's thread because of what I say, thanks.

I think a lot of people forget what its all about on this forum, or flat out miss the point from the very beginning.
Read the damn mission statement. It's not all about how awesome you think your saiga 12 is with 4 flashlights, 2 lasers, and 6 bayonets is and getting butthurt when someone disagrees. It's supposed to be about bringing people together for charity and improving everyones general preparedness for whatever.

can we all just get back to Killing stuff and help each other out with helpful thoughts and ideas and just wait it out if our money is in ZS hands and has been taken out of our accts were members and that can be proven on our bank statements , we just gotta wait on the goodies thats all . i did all the clerical work for our jeep club with 100+ members and it is hard to keep up when you work full-time hours it really is :D

the lower cost " virtual " thing is a great idea also .

Agreed. Too many people think ZS begins and ends @ the forum.

You mean there aren't 44 chapters of volunteers who go out and attempt to make their community better, as well as raising money for disaster-torn areas around the world instead of socking MREs and ammo into the basement? There aren't groups of people (25/26 WHAT UP!) who go out and teach and learn from each other and socialize while thinking of new charity projects to undertake? You mean that meeting these people isn't as simple as connecting with the local group and donating a few hours per month of your time to benefit your local area? You mean to tell me that there is even an individual volunteering program that rewards donation of one's own time with ZS swag? (Is that still active?)

For some though, it does, due to a lack of a local chapter and lack of other ZS members to start a chapter in the immediate area. (I define "local" as less than a 3 hour drive round-trip to meetings)

We still try and spread the word about ZS though, and donate to local charities (time, money, whatever is needed), but if it were not for the forums then ZS wouldn't "exist" for such members.

Hey all... still waiting on my badge/green/etc... paid back in April. April 15th, to be exact. Any word yet?

That's 14 weeks. I thought it was 6-8 weeks, not 6+8 weeks?

No, I totally get that, but some people don't even try that hard. They just hang out here socially and don't even contribute to the charity work that's available THROUGH the forum.

UPDATE

All new membership applications have been processed as of 10 July 2010 (that's yesterday). Badges should be going in the mail by Sunday, 15 July 2012.

If you paid for your membership, you should be green on the forums as of 2 minutes ago. If not, you probably mis-entered your forum name on your membership application or left the field blank. Send me a PM with your email address, real name (or whatever name you used on your application) and PayPal transaction number and I'll see what I can do for you.

Renewals are still in process. You won't expire on the forums until the new process is in place. Renewals should be processed by Sunday, 15 July 2012.
