ZSC:015 is Dead. Long Live ZSC:015! (New Chapter, Sort Of)

Postby whisk.e.rebellion » Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:56 am

In keeping with the ZS HQ Chapter Guidelines, the California Chapter (015) has begun to split into smaller, easier to manage regions.

It's my pleasure to announce that ZSC:015 now serves the San Francisco Bay Area!

I can't wait to see some more chapters popping up in the state. Good work, everyone involved!

Yay! I don't have to change the monograms on all my ZS stuff!!!

Congrats to all the folks who worked hard to get this moving and completed. SoCal folks, we are here if you need any help to get things going down there.

*Resounding Chorus*
"Long Live the 15! Long Live the 15!"

I have semi formaly introduced myself previously and have just recently bought and paid for my full membership to ZS.
So, I will formally introduce myself here.

My name is Jesse Cubbedge. I am currently in the US Coast Guard as a Damage Controlman 1st class. I have been in the CG for 9 years. I started out as a Telephone Technician (also with the CG) and decided to switch trades to the DC rating. Previous to joining the CG, I attended MMI (motorcycle mechanics institute) in Orlando, FL. Before that I served in the Marine Corps as a Rifleman Sgt. in the Infantry (India 3/6). I served for a brief time in Afghanistan after 9/11. Before the Marine Corps, I was in the Air Force for a couple of years, stationed in Germany, working on the A-10 Warthog as a weapons technician. I served in Kuwait for a few months while in the Air Force. Between regular travel and military deployments, I have traveled to 32 countries and a fair number of stated in the US.

My military career has provided me with training in the areas of Welding, Carpentry, Firefighting, Chemical / Biological warfare responce, Telephony, Rifle and Pistol marksmanship, Mountain survival, Cover and Concealment, woodland tracking, lots of good stuff.

Things I am most interested in, DIY projects, home repair and turn key construction, fabrication and repair of "stuff", I like solving real world problems, and in general, being of use. Many of the conversations at work involve "what would you do" scenarios, P.A.W. preparation, and "how to" type discussions.

I haven't been to any of the Bay Area meets as of yet due to my work schedule but I hope to be able to make an appearance as soon as I can. I look forward to meeting the other members in the chapter.

Welcome everyone! Azrael, JW, and nickk, I don't know if any of you saw the thread about our upcoming event, but on Saturday (the 14th) we're going to Metcalf Gun Range in San Jose, and we'd be more than happy to see you all there!

I would like to be there, I love shooting, but work has me up in WA in Port Angeles and Bangor these next two weeks. I'm usually out of town the middle two weeks of the month. Is there a calander of events or do they come up one at a time?

For this range day (which we had planned as just a fun meet-up prior to chapter approval.... didn't expect to be approved so quickly, lol), our chapter approval and the date of the event were so close we felt everyone would feel rushed if we were to try to make it an "official event", so this one was just posted publicly on the forum here. In the future, we plan to have events planned far enough in advance that they'll be posted on the forums, as well as on the chapter Facebook and Twitter. As we progress, other forms of event notification (mailing lists? Who knows) may be added, depending on needs and resources :) Right now, events may be somewhat light, but we hope to have some things in the works soon to get the Bay Area more active :D

For anyone that's into social networking, you can find ZSC:015 on Facebook at:
www.facebook.com/ZombieSquad015
And on Twitter at:
www.twitter.com/ZSC015
(@ZSC015)

We'll hopefully be adding more information to those as we get things more organized around here :D

Ahw shucks - now that banner I made for my signature doesn't really apply to me.

If anyone in the SoCal area has any plans to raise up a SoCal Chapter, let me know. I can help to do any logos, banners, etc. I do have significant free time at the moment, so I would love to help with just about anything chapter related. But don't think I can take on creating one, myself. I'd love to be a part of some local events as well.
