CMMG Bargain Bin rifles are back

Post by mk_ultra » Mon Sep 14, 2009 8:39 am

Was kinda surprised to see this , with AR prices still just starting to normalize across the board .http://cmmginc.secure-mall.com/shop/?ca ... 41&cat=161&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Response on these last time was overwhelmingly positive .

Looks like a great way to pick up a basic rifle to mod to your needs.

I like that you can pick who hand-picks your gun ;)

At their gun show booth over a year ago they had a large rubber trash can filled with an ugly assortment of well used rifles in all styles and configurations. The "trash can rifles" were headspace and guaranteed to shoot, but no returns. They were $599 each.

So are these guns all even CMMG or are they just a bunch of random used ARs from all sorts of companies? I would really like to have at least some idea of what I am getting into.

Looks like CMMG uppers and random lowers: Armalite, DMPS, and CMMG. Wonderful price, crappy bank account balance. :cry:

man that is tempting. i don't wanna start a debate but are most components generally the same quality wise? If i pay for colt as opposed to DPMS what benefit would i be paying for? Please no flamming ;) Just trying to make an educated decision.

I have no special knowledge of the AR-15, but from advice that I have gleaned off those that do, then I would say "It depends on what you want to do with it."

DPMS and other cheaper brands are fine for recreational shooting and going to the range, but if you want to put the rifle through the paces and test it (and yourself) then get a Colt (or other mil-spec rifle).

CMMG uppers are solid and dependable. Im not saying Id want to push a thousand rounds a week through one in the desert for a year, but they're certainly better than DPMS or Del-Ton.

Lowers are pretty much lowers. All the important shit that makes or break an AR-15 happens in the upper.

I don't know. It's sort of tempting, but actual "all" CMMG rifles are only running about 800 bucks from CDNN. For a plinker or a trainer or a spare... sure... probably. For an only rifle or a basis to upgrade? Dicey.

I don't really need another AR, but........... I'm tempted.

I do wish you could pick which brand you were getting though :?

Easy: This rifle is guaranteed to properly shoot exactly once.
If it does not do this it's not as described, which means that you can return it. It's one of those few types of return that you cannot ever legally exclude.
