Not sure if this is a deal or not, but I found a TAG (tactical assault gear) vest with Level III inserts.

LAPG is having an interesting deal here; if you buy binos or an optic you get free shipping and one of their Bail Out Bags in black. Not a bad deal for someone needing some binos and wanting an extra door prize.

RadioShack's Emergency AM/FM/WX Crank Radio for $13 and free shipping. Internal rechargeable Ni-MH battery that you charge with the included hand crank so a power outage won't leave you out of the loop. Plus, it has a built-in USB port so you can charge your cell phone. It also runs on three "AA" batteries (sold separately as Cat. #2300849) or you can use a 6V/300mA DC adapter.

Also on Amazon Prime - with a limited number at the same price point. Good reviews. I'm in for two.

Adventure Medical Kits SOL Emergency Bivvy. $11.06 ships free with FSSS

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WX ... PDKIKX0DER

An historic low for this item according to camelcamelcamel.com. Regular price is closer to $16.00. A nice upgrade to that mylar space blanket you threw in your BOB/GHB/INCH with nary a second thought. The cheapies are better than nothing, but they don't seal up well against the wind, are smaller than you think and are flimsy. And - speaking from direct experience here - one saved a near-hypothermic climber's life on the side of Mt. Kenya, but it was so damn noisy it kept the rest of us up half the night listening to him shivering inside his personal cocoon of crinkle wrap.

This product is laminated to a Tyvek-like material that is both stronger and much quieter. Size: 84" x 36". Weight: 3.8oz.

The eBay guy has $4 shipping (to me), it's pretty much even with the amazon price. Actually you could order two from Amazon and come out a few cents ahead with the fsss.

Ultimate Survival Technologies Base Hex Tarp

Reg $35-ish, now $28.79 with FSSS.

http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Survival ... t+hex+tarp

Camelcamelcamel says this is a historic low, but also says it’s never gone below $33.65 and that isn’t right because I’ve been watching it hovering between $32 and $34 these past couple of weeks. Still, <$29 is really cheap.

Nylon tarps are lighter and more compact than poly tarps, but can get expensive, often exceeding $50. The UST Base HEX tarp is something of an outlier among nylon shelter tarps for a couple of reasons:
1) even at its regular price it’s one of the cheaper options out there, and
2) it has some unique technical features, like a aluminized inner layer to help reflect body heat and/or radiant energy from a nearby fire.

I’ve researched this for a while so I’m aware of a few caveats.
1) 108” x 96” is smaller than you’d think for a tarp. Realistically, this is a one person shelter.
2) The blaze orange color is very conspicuous. In a wilderness survival situation, that can be an advantage. Others may see this as a negative.
3) Using the aluminized interior to reflect heat from a camp fire strikes me as a little dicey. If you’re close enough to the open flames for it to be effective, you’re also at risk for embers burning a hole in your shelter.

Image

Includes tarp, guy lines and steel stakes and stuff sack for carrying components when not in use.

Size: 108" x 96" 41". Packed Size: 10" x 4". Packed weight: 1 lb. Weight w/o stakes: 10.2 ozs.

Target has a $10 off $50 coupon for groceries if you get their flyer in today's newspaper. My town has a SuperTarget so they have a decent inventory. I've done a LOT of shopping at three big
name grocery stores, Wal Mart and Target. Their prices are still competitive so it's worth stocking up on food with the $10 coupon. Sorry, can't use it on alcohol! :gonk:
