Crowbar/Prybar/Wrecking Bar Porn!!!

Postby Jamie » Mon Jan 21, 2008 12:27 pm

I have a problem with blunt(ish) instruments designed to bend and budge and bash and break...I'm looking for either: a support group to help me overcome my addiction, or like-minded people that I can band together with to tell the rest of the world to fuck off...

Image

This is the whole family of bars, from a tiny Atwood prybaby at about 2" to the mammoth 48" wrecking bar...

Image

Some basic Stanley tools: a pair of 7" wonder bars, a 15" wonder bar, and an 18" wrecking bar...the paired bars take up about as much room as one bar alone, and when applying force in opposite directions (imagine them wedged in a door) even the little ones can do amazing things...

Image

Little bars: the four along the lefthand side are from countycomm, and the fifth (vertical) one is an Atwood Prybaby that lives on my keychain...

Image

A few specialty items: FatMax Xtreme Fubar, EOD Robotics Breacher Bar (wrapped in blaze orange paracord), Ontario SP8 Machete...

Please post pictures of your favorite crowbars/prybars/wrecking bars, and help me feel less freakish (and plan out my future acquisitions)...

Wow - well, I suppose you can take solace in that it is a relatively inexpensive obsession. Think of the money you'd spend if you felt the same about Faberge Eggs!

I am interested in the EOD Robotics Breacher Bar, but unfortunately they don't ship to Canada :-( Does anyone know of someone who carries them in Canada?

I'm really impressed with the Fubar, but the only thing I'm wondering is if you can split small logs with the edge under the hammer. I feel like that's the only thing missing on it... an axe edge.

What's your opinion nfa?

Those are badass, nfa. I wanted to get a pair of those little prybars from county comm but they're sold out. I hope they get those in again.

I've got a nice collection of bars myself. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to taking some photos.

You can break stuff with them.

"Stuff" can include zombies.

Also, Gordon Freeman!

nfa, as a fellow ZS'er, it would mean a lot for me to help you overcome your addiction, so I'd be happy to have you send them to me. Especially the EOD Robotics Breacher Bar and the Ontario SP8 Machete, which look particularly addictive.

I have this set from Harbor Freight.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=7929

The biggest one is on a shelf in the closet right next to the front door. It used to be my "first-fucker-through-the-front-door-is-getting-this-in-the-forehead" weapon, until I found a cool mil-surp ice axe. 8)

Often when I go to WW I like to try and get very unique item combinations to get together to take to the register. My favorite so far, last winter I bought a dead-blow hammer, box of condoms, ski mask, and roll of duct tape.

Probably made it to somebody's watch list when that came through on the debit card.

Back to topic - used to work in a repair shop that had two full-time machinists, and unlimited (almost) access to stock material. One of the guys I worked with put together a 48" Halligan tool out of carbon steel stock. Damn thing must have weighed about 35 pounds, but it was pretty damn cool. If I had been thinking, I would have gotten him to make me one about 36" or so. Would love to have one now, but for the prices I've seen, gonna have to stick to wrecking bars.

Okay, wait. You time travel to WWI often, and take weird tools back to the people of the past?

For the last week I have been desperately trying to remember the name of a really neat little pry bar I once saw online, to no avail. I click here, and lo and behold, there it is, the EOD Robotics Breacher Bar. Thanks, nfa, I can now add another semi-blunt instrument to my collection.

Umm, you mean everyone else doesn't?

Got so used to calling it Wally World...

Good lord. I just had this vision of wandering around (Insert small mid-western town) in 1917 with this stuff in a shopping bag.

Probably would never make it back to the Time Machine.

Or better yet, sneak into ol' Uncle Gary's house and hide this stuff behind his couch (same furniture since about 1930 or so), come back to present, call 911 from payphone, park across street and watch.

Sigh. If I only had a Delorean. And a flux capacitor.

I really need to do a coconut test using my $9.95 Stanley 36" wrecking bar.

I really like the thing. Heavy enough to do the job, but really not a "weapon" per say. I keep mine in my truck without a worry.

"It's a tool, Officer. My tailgate jams sometimes."

Nice set you got there, nfa. I want one of the FatMax extremes, but they are a bit pricey.

Civilian Scout, I used to have a couple of those bars you linked to. I used them to remove houses, mostly. :) A little bit of skateboard tape in the right place, and you have a non-slip tool of bloody death, or dusty wall destruction, whichever pleases you. Wish I still had them. I liked that you could jab with them, through drywall, plywood, and whatnot.
