JamesCannon: You should know that there are many applicable night-time aids on the market, such as Lunesta and Ambien, that are available via prescription for all the sleep you're going to lose over this.

As long as it isn't the last one in existence (and it's not) I think this project is still on track for awesomeness. I have to admit that I'm thinking about what kind of holster that thing would have :P

Hell...for that matter why hack-job a Finn Mosin into an Obrez clone when you can make a Mosin Mare's Leg!!!!!

If I do that, it'll be with a generic 91/30 though, cause really......

Crypto and I were bouncing that around on IRC, lol.

I assumed thigh rig, as VLee mentioned, it's kind the size of a mare's leg when chopped, and that's badass (road warrior) for the thigh.

Crypto mentioned a bandoleer across the chest for it. Given the large x54r cartridges, that could be funny too. Hell, given that it's a rimmed cartridge, it'd even be easy to pull out, since you have a rim to get purchase on.

Of course.

Then he had to go and mention me wearing a pirate costume and putting a silver butt cap it... so maybe I'll have to make 1 or 3 more and just tie them to a harness and carry them around that way.

i am so torn. part of me loves the idea for its complete coolness factor and the other part hates you for doing this to a m39.
but as others have said its your rifle not mine. so have fun with it

oh and silver butt cap 100%

Hmm...

Has anyone else given any thought to starting "Fantasy Action Shooting" as a complement to things like Cowboy Action Shooting? Instead of competing with single action revolvers and leverguns while dressed as cowboys, go all Mad Max or Firefly with weapons like this

I see potential. Any investors interested? :D

I'm in Mad Monkey, I how ever cant invest much.

I hate it when someone takes a M91 or a Mauser and puts an ATI anything on it, sporters are retarded. That said this is a cool project, yes I would have felt better if you would have used a mismatch or already sporterded gun like I prefer to do, but its not my decision. Its not like its some super rare rifle either.

I have a spare Enfield some one tried, and failed to make a jungle carbine out of laying around, I might have to try this. Is there SBR, or other paperwork involved? I wouldn't think so, but I know how the ATF likes to bend or fabricate the law to suit there needs.

In closing. How bad ass would it be to have an M1 Garand pistol.
I might be in the basement. I'll go upstairs and check.

My opinion: keep the M39 and buy an $80 hex from AIM.

Seriously, that M39 is going to be incredibly fun. I don't really like Mosins and I fucking love my M39.

Just another thought, if you kept that M39 original who knows how much they will be worth in 10, 20 years. If you chop it up you're really losing money. If you just chopped up a hex receiver Mosin you're only gaining a fun toy, not really losing a bunch of money.

After this is done, the most important decision is going to be which flash hider makes the coolest fireball pattern.

Because the barrel -will- get threaded.

But but but...AUTHENTICITY! Even further proof you should do it on a 91/30. For the record the AMD brake should be the one you use

Seriously, dude, chop the fucker already. I want pics. (Unless you can make some money here. Then sell the fucker, buy another, chop it, and post pics).

Are you going for the peasant-hacked-a-Mosin-with-a-hand-saw look or the peasant-hacked-a-Mosin-but-tried-to-do-something-about-the-ergonomics look? Those Obrez pics with pistol grips are intriguing. I'd like to see what you could come up with if you took that route.

Uhm

Yea, there's a little bit about FEDERAL POUND ME IN THE ASS PRISON preventing me from chopping it right now.

Waiting on my lawyer to get back to me about my NFA trust. Then once that's finished, I can start the SBR paperwork.

I'm going to make it like the 'shopped (ms painted) pistol I linked a couple pages back.
