Thank you. I'll post some more pics in the next day or so once I get the 'extras' mounted. I want to give the Krylon a few days to cure.

As far as the weight: I'm probably not the best person to answer that question. Reason: I was an M60 gunner for a decade and my rifle of choice is a 1959 FNFAL L1A1.
The M60 weighs 23 pounds (empty) and my L1A1 weighs 13.1 lbs (empty) - so the 6.5 pounds of the 995TS, to me, doesn't feel heavy at all.

I have 2 basic complaints on this weapon.
1) The round capacity.
2) I can't reach the safety lever with my right thumb without changing my grip. Going to have to try and mod that.

Well damn, I was a SAW gunner for a few years, and the primary rifle I own is a Golani, so that's a bit of relief. 6.5lbs ain't bad at all for a carbine.

As for the round capacity, think of the bright side- it'll instill fire discipline, so make every shot count! The safety issue shouldn't be too used to fix, given a good metal worker can fabricate a new safety lever.

I like mine, and it was the best 150.00 I have spent on a used gun.... It is accurate and reliable, and ugly as sin....so good on all fronts.... if it cost more, sure, gripes would come out, but at that price, all good.....
( and It is all the better for all the problems I have seen with more expensive guns...)

Almost final modifications to the 995-TS:

1) Beamshot laser (mounted under barrel) with pressure switch on forearm grip.
2) Forearm grip - folding. Includes space inside for allen wrenches and take-down key.
3) 150 lumen LED tac-light (mounted on weaver rail above forearm grip)
4) 2 weaver rails (mounted on each side of forearm guard.
5) Magazine holders (mounted on buttstock - one on each side)
6) BSA RedDot scope co-witnessing the stock iron sights. <-- This may go. I'm not happy with the scope. I may do a small upgrad and replace this with a holographic sight.Time will tell....

Pretty sure I'll put a single point sling on it and 90% positive I'll be changing the scope.... I REALLY don't like the BSA RedDot...

That's the great thing about this setup:

The carbine itself cost $250.00
TS Forward Grip - $25.00
Tactical Stock Flashlight - $25.00
BEAMSHOT® 1000S Laser - $57.00
BSA Red Dot Scope - $40.00
995 MAGAZINE HOLDER W/ 2 MAGAZINES - $40.00
2 Picatinny Rails - $15.00
______________________________________________
$452.00 in weapon and accessories

1 can of Black Krylon Camouflage Fusion Paint - $4.37
1 can of Almond Krylon Fusion Paint - $4.37
1 sheet of 3M grip tape - $8.55
________________________________________________

Total Cost for Weapon, Accessories and Paint Modification = $469.29

Now, I'm not a bargain shopper by any sense of the word - but I'd love to find a carbine that has the same or better distance as this, with the same or better caliber - for the same or better price....

really nice build. I had a 995 before the major stock change. I had put an ATI stock on it (similar to the CX4 storm stock) and absolutely loved that gun. It was fun too shoot and suprisingly accurate. I had put thousands of rounds through it without a single issue.

Hi-Point 995TS 9mm Carbine (7/10 for Zombie Defense)

Postby Cmgray612 » Wed Nov 09, 2011 9:58 pm

First off the pistol is ugly as sin and clunky as a refrigerator. I can't say the same for the carbine. Mine has been reliable with no failures of any sort in 475 rounds or so. Yeah it's a single stack and yeah it's plastic, but again for 249$ the price I paid for mine, and a lifetime warranty that even protects against wear and tear, it's a nice sell.

Mine is equipped with a Sight Mark Mini and BUIS. The shorter sight radius took some getting used to but after that it's been great.

Moerse Lekker Sales. Google that and you'll find them. Not very expensive and offers a whole new look to your 995TS

Took the carbine out to the range yesterday. (Too cold for my yard)
Sighted her in and was overall very pleased with the performance of the carbine.
300 rounds in total. Zero misfires or hangfires. Zero Failure to eject.
(One issue with an extended ProMag magazine I have, but I was able to repair and fix and press on.

After getting her all sighted in, I can safely say that I now thoroughly enjoy this weapon!

Image
That's 20 rounds (2 10rd mags with a pause for a change) from 25 meters.
Set for 2.3 inches high at 25 meters - so (if I did my math right) I should be .5in high at 100 yards and on target at 150.

After reading this thread, you guys are really making me want one of these... Do they make them in .40 so I can use the same ammo as my XD40?

Hey I really like this, it's looking real nice. I was thinking of doing something similar to mine. But where did you buy that stock for it. when I try to search for it, I can only find other replacement stocks for it but I want the one you have. If you or anyone has any suggestions can you please shoot em my way. Thanks. Once again thats a sick ass gun

Yes they make them in .40 I love mine. Its a nail driver as far as target shooting. I bought a 45 cal pistol and it is bulky but its very accurate as well. I wouldn't wanna use it for everyday carry so it sits in my safe unless im shooting.

Nice paint-job. I painted my receiver shroud/compensator black with a few coats of enamel. Came out nice no complaints with Hi Point here I know the owner. Its a 4095TS Carbine.

Anyone have any experience with the aftermarket 15 rnd mags? I hear extremely mixed reviews on them but I tend to put a little more weight behind opinions from ZS members.

Ive only fired one once, and it was with one of those 15rd mags. It seemed to work reliably.

All in all I like the hi point, but I can't bring myself to buy one. Why have a PCC when I could get a RCC?

I've always been a fan of the 995TS for the price point and actually think they look utilitarian and kewl but like a lot of peeps here I've wondered out loud in many threads why the hell HiPoint don't/can't make a version that takes Glock mags. Throw a 33 round hate stick in that bish and everything is golden, not to mention the whole, "I own a lot of pistols and pistol calibre carbines but only own Glock mags" dream.

Nice pics, OP dude and other dudes/dudettes. I appreciate muchly.

The reason is most companies, specially small ones, don't use other companies magazines is they can't afford the cost to get licensing to use another companies magazines. I.E. using Glock magazines in a Highpoint.

See, I brought that up in another thread as it kinda made sense to me but apparently this is not the case. I'll dig up the thread in a minute or two...
