Re: First homemade knife

tell me what you think... Methinks you''re new to the interwebs. :P As stated above, you need to upload the picture. It can't be sourced directly from your hard-drive except on YOUR computer. So we can't see diddly even if you can. Make an account on Photobucket.com. It's an online photo album, als...

Classic biker weapon: Lock on a bandana.

Individually useful items that, separate, are perfectly reasonable to have on you.

Re: flea market Kukri

It's got the post thingie, but small like a 1/4 of an inch, and blood groves..... the grip seems kinda small for my hand, and the spins seems to stay the same width No, just got the kukri Please, they aren't blood grooves, fullers and blood grooves are designed very different on different blades. F...

Re: Help me pic a knife

Just replace the thumbstud. Either a small acorn nut or even a thumbstud from knifekits.com. Might require a little modification, like widening the hole or something, but nothing worth doing is easy. I like my Kershaw composite Leek, it's a nice small knife to keep on hand. But nothing else they pro...

Re: THE TOWEL!!!

This thread made me stop my Walmart for a large, black hand towel.

I proceeded to install a large, brass grommet and a loop of olive drab paracord.

I now own a tactical towel, and I'm not entirely sure why. :P

Re: Customized bowie

Good re-work! Looks better than the original, IMHO. I like that blade shape, too. How's it do on edge retention? Thanks! Don't really know about the edge retention. It's been mounted up, different, for years, but I've never used it since I couldn't make a decent sheath back when I first tried to ta...

Customized bowie

Head to toe, this bad boy is customized to the maxxx. Here's what it started out as, when it left the factory. Though when I got it, it was just the blade. Flea markets rock, btw. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y277/TheyCallMePavz/bowie472.jpg >"Original Bowie Knife" dremeled out into a crude full...

Re: Fun with Kydex.

Scratched the living shit out of a brand new BRKT Bravo I with the first Kydex sheath I made. I used the rest of it for ax covers and went back to leather. It makes a damn nice sheath, but going forward I'll buy them rather than make them. Have you thought about lining the kydex with suede? I belie...

Re: sheath for Becker BK9

I'm not looking for a certain look. The sheath that came with the BK9 leaves a lot to be desired. Was rather disappointed in the size and quality. One of the reasons I am not interested in kydex is the additional size. Molle mount was my first choice. Due to the ease in mounting on my day pack. Fir...

Re: sheath for Becker BK9

You want it "molle style". Okay, we know how you want it mounted, but that's it. If you don't want kydex, what do you want? Leather? Wood? Soft nylon/cordura with plastic liner(basically what your BK9 came with...)? For the mounts, do you simply want PALS webbing on it, to be attached with a seperat...

Re: Kommanders Knife Konundrum

Anyway for now I think I'll stick with the SOG though a good survival knife will be added to my list of stuff to get soon. I also might have found a way to modify the SOGs sheath so it will work better. Thanks for giving me something to chew over. What kinda sheath did your SOG come with? There are...

Re: Kommanders Knife Konundrum

Here's my take: They aren't collector's items. They're tools. They're made to be used. Even if the current BNIB price is higher than what you paid when you bought them, it's not like these things are going to steadily rise in demand. These are knives from high-output companies and I don't believe th...

Re: Titanium Knives - Good, Bad? Anyone have experience?

Boy, if they could sammich some very hard/thin steel, between sheets of Ti, kinda katana-ish... that might make a sweet knife. Probably wouldnt stick together good enough :( It's been done. The only problem is it's an expensive process. For the functionality, the benefits simply don't outweigh the ...

Re: Need some help here with Sheaths

To start making sheaths, your best bet would be to find some thick scrap leather and some waxed thread, and start practicing. You're not going to get high quality on your first try, and leather working can get pretty expensive pretty quickly. Like Murph said, kydex is another option. But even then, ...

It works excellent still as a standard folder, I just kind of look at it like if I bought a new Tahoe, and the DVD player broke under warranty. Chevy then tells me that they dont make that DVD player anymore, and I can choose any new Aveo I want. I'd say it's more like buying a new Tahoe, and a few...

People who believe maille is a good idea have no understanding of what maille does. They assume, "Well, people use it to stop shark bites, to it'll be great against human bites!" BZZZZ! Wrong. Historically, maille was used in conjunction with heavy padding. The maille itself prevented the sharp edge...

Re: Is there ANY way to make the Taurus Judge work for SD?

Here's the only way I'd buy a .410 handgun: 1) Produced by Ruger or S&W. 2) 3" chamber for magnum .410 shells. 3) Rated for .454 Casull (or .460 S&W, MUAHAHAHA!). 4) 4-6" barrel. 5) Removable chokes. At least IC for using shot, and a specialized choke to continue the rifling for when shooting .45's....
