Re: Stop the bleed month
I have taken this class and I teach this class. Unofficially is that it does lack chest trauma. If you read the report that it was based off of then you understand that chest trauma in the civ world is a danger. AZMedic, I totally agree. I think this is the "new" change that will be taking place wi...

Stop the bleed month
Wanted to know, who knew about this, being a thing this month? Who has taken this class in the past or who teaches this class? Here is a link to the site and you can find one locally to you this month. These should be free, if you find one charging you, look further. https://www.bleedingcontrol.org/...

As for their shipping, not sure what's going on there. Does seem like it takes a bit too long. But then, I am never in a hurry for ammo when I order from them.

Re: When TV shows and movies get it wrong
See lots wrong in shows and films. Most people don't pick up on small things like that, hell most directors don't either. Remember we see something that happened in 5 seconds. It might have been a 12 hour day with 25 takes and the final cut was done on the 1st cut and the 18th cut to piece it togeth...

Re: Where can I find sheets of "velcro" loop?
Sorry to dig up such an old thread. Found this via google search. I was looking for sheets of loop side velcro for all my patches. Instead I had some automotive audio carpeting laying around (which you can get for about $15 at any auto store of bigger box store) the house. Worked good IMO http://i11...

My thinking about green is that it kind of works everywhere... kinda works in the forest, kinda works in arid areas like where I live... A-Tacs sure as hell works in arid areas... anyone know how it works in the woods? BTW if there's a better thread for this, feel free to point me in the right dire...

A sudden event or slow decay over time?
This question hit me the other day as I was watching a movie. So, I guess my question is; will what causes the SHTF event be a sudden thing (EMP, viral outbreak, other) or will life as we know it just spiral downward until a reset button is hit? Will the later only be a subjective thing (your own pe...

Re: "Walking Dead" Cable Series
One of the better episodes, at least for me personally. Of course things are what they seem and drama will unfold, it's a show. LOL However, I loved Rick's line. "We'll take it from them". This shows us just how far Rick and his crew will go to stay in this safe place without bowing down. The gang a...

Car batter power?
I do not feel this would be a very long term sustainable power source but this winter has taught me a few things. Solar is probably not an option in Michigan unless it mobile and well, I don't have that kind of room also in a grid down situation, a generator would be a "HEY COME GET ME" sign in my n...

I like Joe Nobody's books. Simple, although he does seem to talk down to people. I have "without rule of law" and "holding your ground" Cody Lundin's "when all hell breaks loose" is a solid read and VERY thorough book. SAS survival guide is pretty amazing and they have a very small guide to use as a...

Re: Late night visit from the police.
I think the OP handled this the way most rational people would have. Could a call have been made to the PD station to verify? Sure. However things worked out and letting them know you are in possession of a fire arm straight away was also imho the best thing to do. Was he accusing the OP? No, he was...

Nope I do not carry one. It seems to be like a piece of soldier gear that makes sense for the army but not for the survivalist. Why? I am not in the army in a war zone. <snip> So those who carry one, what scenario do you see where you need one, and what happens in that scenario after it is put on? ...
