A BOL less than 10 miles from a population of 70,000, and along a rail line? Sounds perfectly safe. No one will ever find you lol. Cool new residence though, good luck! Quite accurate, though I'm not terribly concerned about people knowing where I am. I live in Montana, and I estimate that most peo...

@lovesmuggler sounds exactly what I want to do. Buy land, get basic utilities & barn set up first so the RV is good to go. Smart and economical. Luckily everything was already done for me: ] [img]http://images.ta...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?
Since I have the electricity and water turned on in my BOL now, I grabbed a 50ft industrial hose, 60ft of heat tape, some pipe tape, and a thermostatic outlet to create a hook up for my BOV. Now when I pull my RV in the big shop doors I can be hooked up to the well and not worry about it freezing. I...

Wow, it's been over a year since I posted here! So much has happened, including purchasing a big RV to put inside the train station. It's a 1986/7 Fleetwood Bounder EXACTLY like the mobile meth lab in Breaking Bad... I dropped off the face of the earth sometime last summer, because the city purchase...

2015 goals
I bought a shipping container this fall to build a small cabin next to my BOL, so I have something comfortable to live in while I renovate the main structure (a huge brick train station/fortress). In addition, I've contracted with a neighbor to move property lines to add five acres, where I plan to ...

Re: Tactical Nylon/Gear Chat
[img] Here's a pic of my HSGI chest rig, with plate carrier pouches added and E-SAPI plates. Unfortunately I don't think they make this anymore, too bad because it unzips and folds down to reveal extra storage and a map tray. I've owned a lot of chest rigs and I've settled on this one. Re: The Civilian and Military Preparation for the PAW
Woodsghost, shooting isnt the only emergency preparedness skill that military indoctrination trains. Also, if you think shooting=survival in an emergency, historically you'll find that just isn't correct. Every one of the people in the military you mentioned should have shot at least once a year to ...

Re: The Civilian and Military Preparation for the PAW
Absolutely, and a lot of them get better, or more specific, disaster/emergency training than the military. The average office worker though does not even know CPR, and though the trend in America is definitely moving toward more prepared people, the civilian population as a whole is going to be lagg...

Re: The Civilian and Military Preparation for the PAW
Everyone knows a few guys in the military that are shitbags, and a few civilians that are shit-hot. That doesn't change the fact that on average, people in the military have been exposed to more useful training for emergency situations than a civilian of the same age. It's not even a debatable topic...

I have to keep one so I can incubate fertilized eggs in the spring but man, sometimes he really makes me question that decision.
