Re: Opinions on the RPD

I received my newly built DSArms RPD a few days ago. It is superbly built although from what I've read may need a break-in period. Wether you should have one or not depends on your situation. I'm a prepper. That said, I've also prepped long enough to sell off some bulk to afford a luxury like this r...

Re: DIY Manpack

The antenna has to be outside the Faraday Cage to get signal and if it is it will pick up the EMP and blow out the radio. I would only use the Faraday cage as a storage option. I wouldn't expect to use any electronics during any type of solar storm or similar drastic event. I understand how the cag...

Re: DIY Manpack

Also your idea of using an ammo can to protect from EMP is flawed. Won't work. Thanks for the advice. I've been thinking about selling this radio anyway so if it's too limited I'm willing to drop some money on something more versatile. - I don't mean to hijack the thread over the EMP topic, but I'm...

Re: DIY Manpack

I love this thread. I've been designing my "manpack" for a while and this thread has made me more excited than ever. But I'm a new HAM, and although I passed the test, I could really use some advice on the usefulness of my radio. I was going to build a manpack on the US military A.L.I.C.E. backpack ...

Re: Zombie Squad Amateur Radio Network: part 3 - Equipment

Do you guys think the old Yaesu FT-101 series radios are too complex for a beginner? I passed the Tec class but I don't have any experience yet. I really need to watch someone else as that's how I learn best. The FT-101ZD radio has the display which I figured would make it easier. I ask because I ha...

Re: ZCON IX 2013 Debrief Thread

I really wanted to go this year but couldn't make it. I went down there the weekend after you guys left with the kids.(You probably don't remember me. I was there for 2010 and 2012 by myself and I'm a cousin of the property owner). It's the first time I've had my 3 and 5 year old kids there. Anyway,...

Re: Benchmade 275 adamas

I've been wanting one of these for a long time. Here in MO. they just legalized the carry of auto knives so the Benchmade Adamas is legal in it's "auto" version. It's going for about $212.00 right now. I just have to own one! - That said, what is that knife you have pictured with the glass breaker? ...

Well, it seems that everyone has been offended after my first post in this thread. For the record, in case anyone missed it, I have Aspergers too. My son has Autism. I'm proud of my special capabilities that most other people don't have and I'm raising my son to be proud too. BUT, my son can't speak...

There is an alternate school of thought on the anti-Candida diet. Everyone should do their own research on this issue. I would be very skeptical of anyone offering a cure to autism. http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... ndida.html Please bear in ...

Looks like the weather forecast is putting us with rain on wednesday/thursday, possibly. I've seen Manbath stretch all the way to the highway during flash floods, and looking like class 5 rapids. If it starts raining get the hell out of Manbath! It's not likely to happen but the time I'm referring ...

Re: Families with Autistic Children--What advice would you g

We've been seeing doctors for my son who is Autistic. There is a lot of research being done out there on the medical aspects of Autism. You can have a child tested for high levels of toxins etc. We are still waiting on the results of our bloodwork, but it's is clear is has a yeast issue. We just sta...

I'll be on a motorcycle. I have ALL of my camping gear in an average sized backpack. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to fit food inside the pack so I'll have to bring another bag too. My backpack has MOLLE straps so I guess I could find a way to strap on a bunch of pouches for food. But all of m...

you can't eat the fish though right?.

I remember hearing something about lead or something
I honestly don't know. There were some lead mines in the area and I think there's a high content of lead in the area in general. Some nearby towns are named after the lead in the area.

What day is the canoe trip and range day? Im guessing the canoe day is when one could do some fishing? Is that the only day for fishing? Just downstream of the campsite there is a larger creek/river where the fishing is decent. I don't know what exactly what kind of fish you're after, but I'm prett...

Yea, bugging in is my first option. After that it's heading to our property in a very rural area where we have a stocked cabin set up off the grid. When I say stocked I don't mean well. It has the basics and we'll have to bring what we can with us. Basically, it will be a nightmare scenario but we h...

I'm going to once again douse my person and clothes with repellant, but I'm going to try the B vitamin thing too. If it works we will say it was the B vitamins! Get a B complex if you can but make sure it includes B1. If you can't find a complex with B1 then just go with straight B1. Trust me...
