Re: Are you fit enough?

I'm fat, I can't run worth a shiz, and I'm lazy to boot. I'm a professinal driver, not runner. I have a bob that will be powered by propane or natural gas, in remote areas this should be easier to come by than diesel or gasoline in the paw. I have plans to keep my vehicles mobile, gaskits, synthetic...

Re: "trunk" gun(s)

Cool idea, I really like a simple, no frills rifle. Is there a reason you didn't get a slightly larger case and just separate upper from lower? Do you plan to torque that barrel in place when you get to your destination? It's a "take down" gun the forend is threaded and spins on so no wrench needed...

"trunk" gun(s)

So I'm going to be working away from home (about 1100 miles) and I decided I wanted a trunk gun since fireams are not allowed in company houseing. The case. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr200/nkoster83/gun%20stuff/IMAG0219.jpg Top layer. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr200/nkoster83/gun%2...

Anybody working in the bakken?

I'll be headed that way in 2.5 weeks to haul water for hydrolic fracking. Any tips or advice on what to expect would be nice, I'll be stationed on watford city, nd after orientation. I'm a native michigander with 4 years hauling vans and reefers under my belt, but I'm expecting a lot of the same stu...

Re: Ditch the cheap straps

If anything this is a good reason to buy a winch, some snatch blocks, Proper straps and chains, and learn how to use them before you are stuck at three in the morning in a blizzard. I know that you can jerk a car out with an elastic strap and the proper method, But If you are serious about recoveri...

Re: Ditch the cheap straps

OK, good warning. And not trying to be a smart aleck here but how do folks recommend I learn so that I can one day know what I'm doing and possess this skill? Take a course at a vocational school? 4x4 club, off-roading events (especially mud bogs), go for a ride-along with a tow truck driver, etc. ...

Re: Ditch the cheap straps

generally the failure happens with a jerk first. This. I always laugh about this. There is nothing wrong with jerking IF your using the right strap. Why would you laugh at this? They simply stated that a shock loads the rope more than a steady pull, so if it fails, it'll be under shock load. Is thi...

Re: Ditch the cheap straps

I currently have the non-stretchy tow strap (actually a cheap loosely braided nylon rope) with hooks in my vehicle that came with a $30 "vehicle emergency kit" from Wally World. Could you folks make some recommendations for me so I know what to buy and how to use it to pull a vehicle out of the mud...

Re: Ditch the cheap straps

I feel for the 4 year-old who watched Daddy die. Hopefully that won't be her first childhood memory. I appreciate the warning on cheap straps. I wish you had used an example that actually definitively had a cheap strap in it. Seriously, I appreciate the warning on the quality of straps and using th...

Re: How to react to heavy smoke or fog when driving?

If at all possible never ever go into the medium! You may find yourself contending with traffic from the other direction. If your vehicle needs to be recovred it is more dangerous because of the smaller shoulder. If your not stopped don't use your flashers! Don't ride your breaks! It's hard to judge...

Re: December 2008, Might Gun Prices Go Down?

I have a well rounded anti zed arsenal (everything but a .22 it seems) but the only bullets I have are .22lr right now. I was going to go on a date, and some friends from out of town showed up and we all wound up at the gun range. I'm now out of ammo. I hope the price will go down, but once I ...

ok, so, now we have a pickup truck, I have a cheapish tool box and when I rolled my truck it was smashed pretty bad, couldn't get in the box until the truck was righted. so my question is... Whats the best way to store your bugout tools? I have a large collection of all the basics, roughly 200lbs an...

To hell with the grammar lesson. Are you saying that Michigan Has loose laws that work, or are you saying that they are tighter then Tennessee and that is why they worked. I dont know what the hell is going on in this thread :( Either way glad to hear about your lady friend being ok. Tennessee's ha...

More to the story? Much more. Re: gun controll in action.

its nice to see a state with lose gun controll laws sucseed and prove that gun controll works. Is this sarcasm? God I'm so bad at this. :? Its not sarcasm, Tennessee has minimal gun control laws, to buy a handgun you only have to pass a Federal background check from what I understand. They also hav...

Recently I attempted to move down to Tennessee and failed miserably, now I'm back in Michigan damn the arctic wasteland. However this story isn't about me it’s about this very sweet and not so innocent girl I started dating. Today I got this call, "Oh my god, Jerry just got arrested!" Jerry being my...
