Re: Is North Face a quality and reliable brand to invest in?

I think North Face is like several other brand out there. They started making really good stuff, then they became popular, and produce for tha masses. I own a few older pieces of North Face gear, including a large pack. I don't see a huge quality difference between them and other brands. For the mon...

Lucky! All I ever find at local garage & estate sales is Red Cross first aid kits & snake bite kits. Very nice score.

Re: Pack Question

I bought a Redwing a couple of years ago thinking that I wanted the same thing. The civilian look. It's a nice pack with plenty of room. I just can't seem to configure it the way I want it though. I thought I wanted everything inside the pack, but now I am leaning towards external pockets & pouches,...

Re: Light weight rain jacket

I recently bought one made by Columbia. Black, several pockets, hood that stows away in the collar. And it had a tag that said packable, it really does pack down to almost nothing. Very lightweight. $29 at the outlet store.

Re: Unofficial What Gear Spoils/Gets Ruined in your Car Thread

I live in Texas. I have noticed anything rubber dries up and deteriorates. Plastic warps. Metal gets oxidized. I would never even consider leaving food or drink in the truck. Basically, the Texas summers will destroy almost anything. I just carry a pack back & forth, but never leave anything I reall...

Re: help sharpening and other

I agree with the 20 degree angle. The mistake I see a lot of people make is that they are always sharpening thier knife, but never get a good edge so it always appears dull and in need of sharpening. Why spend good money on a knife if your just going to ruin it. A 20 degree angle will ensure a good ...

Re: H1N1 pandemic information started 04/29/09

One of the items I never have purchased for my FAK was masks. I have been to several stores today as well as online and everyone seems to be sold out. If you dont have any, purchase some masks today before they become as scarce as ammo.

Re: Wally World rationing ammo?

The Walmart near me has no ammo at all. I was also in a local gun shop (which had plenty of ammo) and heard several people complaining about not being able to get any primers or other reloading supplies.

Re: Which 10/22 Hi-Cap Mags are Best?

These are the best I have ever found. They are solid metal, basically designed like an AR15 mag. 30 round capacity. Each magazine came with the adaptor shown in photo. I purchased a few of these around 20 years ago at a Dallas Gun Show. I have never seen them since. They are almost indestructable, m...

Re: How long could a Zombie outbreak last?

We all have a shelf life, so the zombies would too. If there is one thing we've learned, it's that they would quickly take out a majority of the population. Yes, there would be survivors, and yes, we could possibly wipe them all out. But the good news is that they don't have the ability to drive so ...

I don't know which is more disturbing. The movie trailer, or you for bringing it to our attention.
Either way, I'm speechless.

Re: Remington 700, .30-06 or .308? What do you like and why?

My vote is for the .308 simply because the box of ammo you buy won't have some redneck picture of a deer on it like the 30-06.
In other words - .308=tactical & 30-06=redneck

I dont know about other parts of the country, but all I ever get on my shortwave is either religion or something in a foreign language. Yes, I do pick up BBC, but there has to be something else out there.

Re: I will post my BOB *braces for criticism*

I really like the small tackle box idea. I have been thinking about getting one for some time.
You seem to have made good use of yours. This is a good example of why everyone should post some good photos of thier BOB's. It helps others come up with good ideas for thier own.
