Re: Bug Out Gear Deals (Post 'em when you find 'em) I

Deleted because LAPG are shady and are saying they made a "technical" error regarding the sale prices listed and refuse to fill the order.

Re: Romero's commentary in his 'of the Dead' films.

From wikipedia (but I've heard the same from other sources): "Some critics have seen social commentary in much of Romero's work. They view Night of the Living Dead as a film made in reaction to the turbulent 1960s, Dawn of the Dead as a satire on consumerism, Day of the Dead as a study of the confli...

Re: HELP: School me on Generators under $1000

My area lost power last Friday during a storm of extremely rare severity for my region. Power came back on Tuesday morning. Since I live alone and work 12 hour night shifts, I didn't really lose all that much food compared to some of my neighbors since I don't keep that much refrigerated food on han...

Re: After Reading ZS, and scouring YouTube for months...

Looks like a good list to me. Making and tweaking gear lists may lead to obsessive/compulsive disorder though. :D If you're going to carry a mallet, why not just go ahead and carry a tomahawk with a hammer poll on it? There shouldn't be much of a weight difference and the added utility should offset...

Re: Several must read SCi-fi based Apocalyptic novels

I didn't dislike Dies the Fire because it differed from my personal religious beliefs. I disliked it because the Wicca speak bordered on obnoxious. The Wiccan's I've known never spoke that way unless they were at a Ren Faire. Anyway, there's a whole thread around here somewhere that debates the meri...

In addition to several of the above listed novels, I've always liked Wolf and Iron by Gordon R. Dickson.

Re: Crazy shit patients say/do

Last week as I was sitting quietly at the ICU nurses station charting myself into a stupor, I overheard an exchange between another male nurse and his disgruntled, possibly deranged (not diagnosed with psych problems yet since she told the psych doc to get out of her room). As the nurse was sliding ...

Re: Cabelas New Mini Multi-Tool - Initial Impressions

I was inexcusably caught without a knife or multitool one morning when I came upon a vehicle that had rolled over into the median during an ice storm. Another bystander handed me his cheapo Cabela's mini multi-tool and it made surprisingly quick work of cutting a seatbelt that was impairing a man's ...

Updates to Kathy's story and a new season of We're Alive is a great way to start the new year. Is it too late to declare a Festivus miracle?

They're pretty good and worth a read. I had some issues with a young teenage girl being that skilled and capable, but given her environment and situation, my problems with parts of the book were pretty easy to overlook.

I still think it needs more commercial breaks. If it weren't for my DVR I don't think I would've stayed with the show. I like it, but the frequent breaks keeps me from really enjoying it.

I started listening to the podcast a few months ago. It's good stuff. I've sort of been putting off listening to the season 2 finale simply because I don't want to face the wait until season 3.

Re: BOG Thats right, bug out gloves baby.

I'm an RN working in an ICU. I try to wear gloves anytime there's a risk I may get a cut or scrape simply because I don't want to provide all the little bugs I run across during my work a convenient entry point. So far my favorite gloves have been the Mechanix Impact gloves. Not very expensive, fair...
