Re: Flat pack bowl.

Even if they maybe aren't as useful for a BOB (although I could think of uses for them), at a minimum, I think these would be great for snacks on long car rides for kids. Or nice for a packing a picnic. I have a weird obsession with traditional picnic baskets and like to go on picnics with my kids a...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

In between wrangling three small children, processed a bunch of veggies from the garden. Freezer is stocked with more green beans, tomatoes to make sauce with after harvest, ground cherries for jam later, and poblanos and jalapenos to go with green tomatoes in a pureed salsa verde. Dehydrated some b...

Re: ZOMBIE CAT!

So, apparently this proves I will watch just about anything with cats in it. All I could think of watching this is, "Oh, hims so mad being in that crate. Hims want to eat someone's face off for being stuck in there. Hims like eating those guys. Nom nom nom. Oh, little kitteh watching TV like a perso...

Re: On you at all times BOB? What do you keep on you?

I too have a Bag of Holding as my EDC! I love it and find it is big enough for most of the things I would want and my schedule book for work, cell phone, umbrella, a book, and my tablet computer. Sometimes I can also stuff whatever crochet project I am working on in it if it isn't too big. My most r...

Re: What is your opinion on prepping?

I think it is difficult to respond to the question of this post based on the article without getting into politics, which is verboten on ZS. That being said, I will say that I think the article definitely seems skewed in ways to paint preppers as extremists whatever their political affiliation. I me...

Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)

Bought a Leatherman Squirt because even though I have a larger Leatherman Rev in my EDC satchel/purse, I have a cross body wallet/clutch I carry for short trips or when I leave the office for lunch and wanted something small to go on that. Pretty pleased with it.

Re: The Mandalorian

Yeah, I hate feeding the corporate Disney monster, but my husband and I will probably purchase the Disney streaming service because it includes Hulu+, we like cartoons, we have 3 kids, we're comic book and Star Wars geeks, and use Netflix and Hulu for our entertainment needs instead of cable. Feels ...

Re: Matrix 4

I have no clue what they think they could do with a story, as (spoilers) both Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss' characters die in the third one. I wasnt a fan of the way the trilogy ended, but this doesn't sound like a good idea at all. Ah, but if you will recall in the meeting with the Architect ...

Re: Fugitive lived in isolated bunker for 3 years to evade arrest in Wisconsin

Wow, that is kind of impressive. That being said, since he was eating essentially trash from a landfill and was in complete isolation (which research shows leads to not great things for humans mentally and physically) a part of me wonders if he didn't actually carve out an existence worse for himsel...

Re: The Boys

This Amazon Prime original series is the antidote to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Proof that absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is a movie about comic books so I am not so sure it is proof of anything. The writers do their absolute level best to make the "Superheroes"; Dickish, insane, murder...

Re: Which point of view should I write my zombie book?

Really depends the type of zombie outbreak story you want to tell. If there is one main character's journey you want to follow and you don't mind filtering everything through their biased perspective (it can be fun to have an unreliable or biased narrator), then do first person. If you want to tell ...

Re: Plague of Locusts Strikes Las Vegas

This just makes me think of my favorite cheesy animal disaster movie. It's called Locusts and has Lucy Lawless as the "Undersecretary of Agriculture" fighting a swarm of super locusts eating their way across the United States. It's pretty delightfully awful.

Re: Megadroughts

So, I have trouble posting links on here, but along the lines of apocalyptic weather events, India has seen temps reaching up to 123 degrees this past June. Over 100 people have died and if warming trends continue the temps may get high enough that humans just can't survive in large parts of the cou...

Re: Rising Tensions in the Persian Gulf

It is absolutely insane for them to say they are making headway in peace talks while Taliban ramp up violence against civilians. I am the one of the first people to recommend diplomatic measures versus violence, but groups like this, willing to take out purely civilian sites as a power play...just f...

Wootness! It came in!!! Was starting to worry it had been delivered to the wrong house, as we sometimes have issues with the mail. Haven't used it other than testing, but love that it is small enough to hang off of the ring on my wallet/clutch and is very bright for the size. Also seems really durab...

Re: Free Olight review thread-I3E

Was really hoping mine would come in before I went on a trip this weekend, but sadly it did not. Keep trying to convince my husband to also sign up and order one, but he doesn't want to :( They're out of them now. I tried to get my wife to order one but the offer was over. :( Bummer. Well, at least...

May be a bit after the fact, but my husband and I found a copy of Mass Effect 1-3 on the cheap. We picked it up and started to play. Looks cool and has a lot of the typical dynamics Bioware is known for. We enjoy most Bioware games.

Re: Man Kills at Least 33 in Japanese Anime Studio Arson

Read up on this some more. Horrifying and sad the number of people who died. Apparently, the man was planning this for some time. I guess purchase of gas is strictly monitored in Japan and they don't sell it in containers (partially because of previous mass arson killings- one of which in 2001 of 41...
